Last night, Chief Sullivan, Captain Rakestraw, members of our Homeless Outreach Team and other WPD personnel joined the Union Rescue Mission for its 2026 Beyond Rescue Celebration.

The evening brought people together for fellowship, worship, mission updates, personal testimonials and a dinner reception. It was an opportunity to hear stories of lives changed and recognize the people helping make that change possible.

We’re grateful for our partnership with URM and the shelter, support and resources they provide to people experiencing homelessness. Thank you for the compassion you show our neighbors and the work you do every day in Wichita.

Yesterday, Chief Sullivan joined fellow public safety leaders at Chicken N Pickle for the Wichita Metro Crime Commission’s Big Dill fundraiser!

With a silent auction, food and plenty of fun, the event brought people together to raise money for initiatives that support law enforcement.

Thank you to the Crime Commission, organizers and everyone who came out to show their support. We appreciate the partnerships that help us serve our community!

K9s Bear and Osage showed off their skills at Woofstock on Saturday! 🐾

Our WPD K-9 officers and their partners put on a demonstration for the crowd, and Chief Sullivan stopped by to watch and show his support. Wichita Animal Services also joined us to share resources and information with our community.

Thank you to our K-9 officers, Bear and Osage for giving everyone a look at the teamwork and training behind the work you do. And thanks to everyone who stopped by to spend part of their Saturday with us!
