Please be advised of the traffic routes and delays for Monday.

PRESIDENTIAL VISIT – MONDAY, OCT. 19

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is advising motorists and event attendees of temporary road closures, parking restrictions and shuttle transportation arrangements for the upcoming presidential visit Monday, Oct. 19.

ROAD CLOSURES

The following roads will be closed to all traffic from 9 a.m. until approximately 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19:

• Broadway between 77th Street North and 85th Street North.

• Arena Drive between 77th Street North and Briar Rose Lane.

EVENT PARKING

Parking at Heartland Credit Union Arena will be limited.

• Attendees parking at the arena must enter from 85th Street North via Arena Drive.

• There will be no access to the arena from 77th Street North.

OVERFLOW PARKING AND SHUTTLE SERVICE

Additional parking will be available in the northwest parking lot of Gilley’s Park City Gambling Hall, 1500 E. 77th Street North.

• Shuttle buses will transport attendees from Gilley’s to the arena.

• Following the event, attendees returning to Gilley’s can board shuttle buses on the south side of the arena.

The attached map identifies the affected roadways and the designated free speech zone.

PLAN AHEAD

Motorists should anticipate traffic delays, allow additional travel time and use alternate routes when possible.

Please follow all posted traffic signs and directions from law enforcement personnel.

The Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of motorists, event attendees and our community.

🚗 WE WANT MORE TRUNKS! 🚗

We’re inviting community members, local businesses, organizations, and anyone who wants to join in on the fun to decorate a trunk and hand out candy!

You don’t need a fancy setup or decorations worthy of a Pinterest board. Just bring a trunk, some candy, and a willingness to make a few kids smile!

The more trunks we have, the better the experience for everyone!

So whether you’re bringing the kids to collect candy or signing up to hand it out, we’d love to see you there!

🦌🚨 DEER RUT SEASON IS HERE — DRIVE WITH CAUTION! 🚨🦌

The Bel Aire Police Department would like to remind motorists that deer rut (mating season) is beginning, which means deer will be more active and unpredictable over the next several weeks.

During this time, deer are more likely to cross roadways unexpectedly, increasing the risk of vehicle collisions.

⚠️ SAFETY REMINDERS:

🦌 Slow Down: Be especially cautious during dawn and dusk when deer are most active.

🚗 Stay Alert: Watch for deer along roadways, especially near wooded areas, fields, and open spaces.

💡 Use Your Headlights: Use high beams when appropriate to help spot deer sooner.

🦌 Expect More Than One: Deer often travel in groups. If you see one, there may be others nearby.

📵 Avoid Distractions: Keep your eyes on the road and your attention on driving.

⚠️ If a deer enters the roadway, brake firmly and avoid swerving into oncoming traffic or off the road. Hitting a deer is dangerous, but losing control of your vehicle can have even more serious consequences.

🚔 The Bel Aire Police Department encourages everyone to slow down, remain vigilant, and use extra caution while traveling this fall.

Remember, deer don’t look both ways before crossing — that’s why we need YOU to!

🎀 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 🎀

Throughout the month of October, you may notice something a little different on our officers’ uniforms. Bel Aire Police Officers will proudly be wearing pink badges in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

These badges represent more than just a change in color. They are worn in honor of the courageous women who have survived breast cancer, those who are currently fighting the disease, and in remembrance of those who lost their battle.

Nearly everyone knows someone—a family member, friend, coworker, or loved one—whose life has been touched by breast cancer. During October, we proudly wear pink to show our support, raise awareness, and honor the strength and courage of those affected.

💗 To those still fighting—we stand with you.
💗 To those we have lost—we remember you.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT – PLEASE AVOID THE AREA 🚨
Please avoid the area of 53rd St. N. and Webb Road due to a traffic accident involving multiple injuries. Emergency crews are currently on scene.
We ask drivers to slow down, use caution, and give first responders and tow trucks plenty of room to work safely. If possible, please find an alternate route and avoid the area for approximately the next hour.
Your patience and cooperation are appreciated as crews work to assist those involved and clear the roadway.
Please slow down, move over, and give emergency personnel the space they need.
