Primary Election Day..... let's get out and vote for our local candidates!!! Plains Township 5th Ward shows an extremely light turnout. By 7:20 today, only one person had voted. Our very own Mike Harostock is running. Come on out and give your time and support to Mike for his run for office.

In less than 24 hours, we will be voting in the primary election, which is crucial, even when a candidate from your party is running unopposed, such as our very own 121st District. Your participation demonstrates active engagement and support for the democratic process, showing that voters are attentive and invested regardless of the competitiveness of the race. High voter turnout in primaries, even for unopposed candidates, helps legitimize the candidate’s position and strengthens their mandate, making it clear that they have the backing of their party’s base. It also sends a message to the broader community, media, and potential challengers that the party is unified and energized for later in the general election. We need to support our candidate, Mike Harostock.

Moreover, casting your vote in an uncontested primary provides an opportunity to express your voice on down-ballot races and local issues that may be on the same ballot. Primaries often include important referendums, propositions, or local offices that can directly impact on our community in Luzerne County. By participating in every election, voters help shape the political landscape beyond just the headline races and reinforce the importance of civic duty. Consistent voter engagement, regardless of the level of competition, keeps democracy strong and ensures every voice is counted.

Our former 121st Legislative Republican District Committee Chairman, Mike Harostock, is running for the 121st District seat. With exactly 1 week to go to the May 19th Primary election, we need to support our Republican candidate. While running unopposed, your support during the primary will help Mike in the General Election in November.

Michael Harostock, 41, is the mayor of Bear Creek. He was born and raised in Luzerne County, Harostock represents the fourth generation of his family to call Northeast Pennsylvania home. A scientist and inventor by trade, Michael has spent his career solving real-world problems across medical device research, supply chain and logistics, information services, and information technology. His campaign is rooted in a deep commitment to the people of Luzerne County and a belief that state government must better reflect the voices, values, and priorities of the communities it serves. The 121st Legislative District includes the City of Wilkes-Barre, the townships of Bear Creek, Buck, Plains, and Wilkes-Barre, and the boroughs of Bear Creek Village and Laurel Run.

Harostock is a graduate of Penn State University and holds graduate degrees from Drexel University, The Commonwealth Medical College, and Villanova University. Deeply engaged in the community, Harostock has served on the board of a local charity and currently serves on several boards, including the Chamber of Commerce and a local youth camp. He also coaches a local high school sports team and contributes nationally to coach development programs. He is married and has a 7-year-old daughter.
