💙 Whitley County EMS Is Taking Steps Toward More Inclusive Emergency Care! 💙
At Whitley County EMS, we are always looking for ways to improve the care we provide to every member of our community. That means recognizing that every patient is different and making sure our crews have the tools, training, and resources they need to provide the best possible care.
We are excited to share that we are partnering with the Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) and Carter Kits to help create a safer, more supportive, and more effective emergency care environment for our patients. As part of this effort, we are incorporating Carter Kits and specialized resources to better support individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other sensory or communication needs during emergencies.
🚑 Through this partnership, our team is working toward:
🧩 Creating a more comfortable and supportive ambulance environment.
❤️ Improving our understanding of how to care for patients with ASD in emergency situations.
💙 Providing our EMS providers with specialized training and resources.
💛 Ensuring every patient receives compassionate, individualized care when they need it most.
Emergencies can be overwhelming, especially for individuals who may experience sensory sensitivities, communication challenges, or difficulty with unfamiliar environments. Having the right tools and knowledge can make a meaningful difference in how we care for these patients.
At Whitley County EMS, our mission goes beyond responding to emergencies. It’s about meeting our patients where they are, understanding their unique needs, and providing care with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Different needs. Individualized care. One commitment to our community.
