On June 5th, 2015 our department lost a tremendous friend, firefighter, and a beloved member of our community in the line of duty. The dedication, service, and sacrifice of Lt. David Knapke will never be forgotten. Because of the unwavering commitment of Lt. Knapke and all those who have gone before us, we continue to strive to uphold our oath to serve and protect our residents with pride, community, and honor.
Rest Easy Lt. Knapke. We have it from here.

Yesterday evening our crews trained on live fire scenarios focusing on fire growth & behavior, extinguishment, search, ventilation, and communication. We were joined by personnel from Township Fire Department and Joint Fire & EMS District. These trainings are critical in preparing us for real life, high risk emergencies.
**We’re extremely grateful for Ellis Farm & Garden for their generous donation of straw for this training.

We always appreciate the invite to attend the first Williamsburg Farmers Market of the season! We love getting to visit with so many vendors and chat with so many young future firefighters!

With the persistent frigid temperatures ice has formed on lakes, ponds, and rivers. Remember that many different factors can affect the strength of a sheet of ice. Animals may also wander out and try and find some fresh water to drink. Crews today rescued a struggling young buck out of a resident’s pond. We are always happy to provide a service deserving of our community.
The aluminum foil seen around the deer is an emergency heat blanket that was implemented while crews awaited a professional from a local animal rehab center.

While panic is NEVER helpful, being prepared is ALWAYS helpful. As you are likely well aware, we anticipate a significant winter storm this weekend. Please take a few extra moments to make the necessary preparations for you and your family.
We anticipate:
- Frigid temperatures.
- Significant snowfall.
- Potential sleet & freezing rain.
If you have elderly neighbors or parents who live alone, take a moment to make sure they have everything they need to be prepared.
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the entire area. Impactful winter weather begins Saturday with the worst conditions arriving on Sunday. Travel may remain difficult into next week as snow/ice removal will be difficult due to cold temperatures.

2026 is already off to a fast start! As we reflect on 2025, we can't help but be grateful for a community who supports us so well. Over the past year, we have experienced growth in our department in several ways. We were able to add critical equipment to our fleet of apparatus and make important repairs and updates to our station, all while striving to respond to each emergency call with compassion, pride, and excellence.
We're looking forward to continuing to provide the best emergency service that we can to our community in 2026!
