Tonight, our department, along with Crittenden Fire Rescue KY, Corinth fire department-KY, and City of Dry Ridge Fire Department, held a mutual aid training on vehicle extrication.

Working together as a team is a vital part of not only responding to fires, but also handling other calls where assistance may be needed from our neighboring departments. Hosting these trainings together allows members to work with firefighters from different departments to meet one common goal: to perfect our skills as one team and provide the highest level of service possible to our communities.

Vehicle extrication is a vital skill that is not easy to set up for training. Special shoutout to Complete Towing and Repair for providing a vehicle that allowed each of these members to become more familiar with equipment and techniques, gain new skills, and perfect existing ones.

Are you interested in helping your community? Stop by any of the local fire stations and see what it’s all about. Each department trains on different days, but on days like this, we all come together as one.

With our newest apparatus going into service this past Monday, crews spent last week working on achieving more hours in drivers training and pump operations to help finish certifications on the apparatus.

The training on Thursday was focused on drafting operations. Drafting can happen at any fire within our jurisdiction or mutual aid partners especially those where a water supply is limited. This operation is completed by tanker trucks shuttling water to staged dump tanks that are beside the pumping apparatus to allow them to draft water into their tanks to maintain water levels for firefighting operations.

Would you like to join our department? Stop by and fill out an application, we train every Thursday. We are also accepting applications for our junior program from ages 15-17.

This morning proved to be a busy one with multiple Williamstown Fire units responding to assist our mutual aid partners in Pendleton County for a report of a motor vehicle collision that turned into an extrication accident and multiple vehicle fire.

Our dedicated volunteers and employees made it possible to establish incident command, perform fire suppression, provide a mobile water supply, establish a landing zone and provide landing zone fire protection.

Interested in joining our team? Stop by the firehouse to pickup an application. We can teach you how to do all these things and so much more.

Thanks to KSP Post #6, Pendleton County EMS, & Williamstown Fire Department for the call & help this morning!

The City of Williamstown will be organizing a chipper service for the disposal of tree limbs in the coming days. We strongly encourage residents to utilize this service as the preferred method of disposing of storm debris.

If you plan to burn trees, branches, or other natural vegetation resulting from the recent storm, the Williamstown Fire Department asks that you notify both Kentucky State Police Dispatch and the Williamstown Fire Department before you begin burning.

KSP Dispatch: 859-428-1212
Williamstown Fire Department: 859-824-4959

Providing the location and time of your burn helps reduce false alarms and unnecessary emergency responses.

Please remember the following safety guidelines:

• Burn only natural vegetation such as tree limbs, branches, and leaves.
• Burning synthetic materials, construction debris, shingles, vinyl siding, household trash, or other non-natural materials is illegal.
• Never use gasoline, diesel fuel, or other flammable liquids to start or accelerate a fire.
• Never leave a fire unattended.
• Keep a reliable water source readily available.
• Be aware that dry leaves can ignite rapidly and send embers airborne.
• Keep fires well away from structures, vehicles, tall grass, and wooded areas.
• Utilize a burn pit or burn barrel whenever possible.

Thank you for your cooperation,
