Grinders and dry vegetation don’t mix.

Sparks from powered grinders have been linked to at least three recent California wildfires. In two recent cases, arrests have been made in connection with the fires, and starting a fire with a grinder can be considered arson.

The safest option is to move grinding work away from dry vegetation and onto a cleared, noncombustible area. If the work cannot be moved, clear away dry grass, leaves and other combustible material; have water and a fire extinguisher immediately available; and avoid working during hot, dry or windy conditions.

If a fire starts, call 911 immediately.

🔥 FRIENDLY REMINDER FROM CAL FIRE MENDOCINO UNIT 🔥
Due to an increase in responses to debris fires, CAL FIRE Mendocino Unit would like to remind everyone that the burn ban remains in effect and outdoor residential burning is still suspended.
Even as we move into fall, vegetation remains dry and fire danger continues. Please help prevent unnecessary wildfires by following all burn restrictions.
Thank you for your cooperation and for doing your part to help keep our communities and firefighters safe. 🌲🚒
One less spark, one less wildfire.
