PG&E will be conducting a Public Safety Power Shutoff on Sunday, October 11, 2026, due to predicted windy conditions and dry vegetation. They have notified us that the west side of Glenn County is on the list for Shutoff. The following communities should prepare for Power Shutoffs on Sunday starting at 6 a.m.: Newville, Chrome, Grindstone, Elk Creek, Fruto, Clarksvalley, and down into Stonyford (Colusa County).
No valley communities are listed in the Shutoff, however, with windy conditions, there is always a chance of wind related damage and loss of power.
For those in the PSPS area, Power is scheduled to be restored on Monday.
A Community Resource Center (CRC) will be open Sunday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Elk Creek High School for Power charging, cooling, snacks, etc.
Residents in the Shutoff area should receive updates from the PG&E alert system, if you don't currently receive alerts from PG&E, then you can sign up on their website.
