The Cranston Heights Fire Company is a non-profit, providing Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services to Cranston Heights and surrounding area since 1919.

We are a combination fire department with primarily volunteers.

Lastnight the on duty staff was invited to the Mill Creek Fire Company - Stations 2&21 company meeting for a special presentation by Chief Lloyd. 2 of our personnel were recognized for their life saving efforts in removing a victim from a house fire in Mill Creek’s local earlier this year.

Just after midnight, Rescue 14 was dispatched to assist Mill Creek Fire Company on a mobile home fire in Murray Manor. Rescue 14 arrived as the first due special service, completed primary searches, and opened up for the engine companies.

Last evening, the Cranston Heights Engine Companies operated as the first due engine on back to back fires on the West Side.

1818 hours: Engine 14 was dispatched to assist Mill Creek Fire Company on a reported house fire in the 3900 block of Newport Gap Pike. Deputy 14 arrived to find fire showing from the roof of a two story single family dwelling. Engine 14 arrived as the first due engine and found a basement fire with extension to the floors above. Deputy 14 held the Mill Creek Command.

2113 hours: Station 14 and automatic aid were dispatched to the 100 block of Sheffield Drive in the Canterbury Hills Community for a reported house fire. 14-8 arrived to find fire showing from the attached garage of a two story single family dwelling. Rescue Engine 14 arrived as the first due engine and extinguished fire in the garage, as well as the first floor. While operating, a simoltanious loss of both positive water supply’s occurred, resulting in an “Orderly Withdrawal” of the dwelling. Once the water supply’s were reestablished, crews entered the house to finish extinguishing the fire and checking for extension. All searches proved to be negative and no injuries were reported. Deputy 14 operated as a division supervisor and 14-8 held the Cranston Heights Command.

Upon returning from the second fire, Fire Chief Sokira and Deputy Chief Swift announced the promotion of Fireman/EMT Jakob Thomas to the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant Thomas has proven himself as a company officer and continues to excel at all responsibilities that he his assigned. Congratulations Lieutenant Thomas!

11 months ago. The CHFCo board of directors approved the start of an apparatus committee. Committee members consisted of career, volunteer officers and a career staff member. The committee visited many departments in the tri state area, looking at Rescue Engine configurations.

The committee spent 8 months meeting with vendors, discussing options and needs for our department and supported community.

Monday January 12th, 2026 the CHFCo signed a contract with Atlantic Emergency Solutions.
