upon assuming control from his father, Nathan Miller, in 1953. From 1953 to the early 1980's, the Miller Administration created and lived by the slogan "Home Away From Home". In doing so, they created and built one of the best facilities the harness industry for its time. Initially, the track was a half-mile surface. From its multiple barns and practice track on the backside, to the hosptiality in both the grandstand and clubhouse, Brandywine drew huge crowds over the years. in 1966-67, the track was redesigned into a 5/8 track and the horsemen LOVED it ;for not only the new surface, but their times and pace increased. And the patron levels grew ,so did the track. In 1966-67, the track was renovated and expanded to a 5/8th track which soon rivaled only Roosevelt and Yonkers.
