Today, Disability Rights Delaware recognizes Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) — a day dedicated to creating a more accessible and inclusive digital world for everyone.
More than 1 billion people worldwide have disabilities, and according to the CDC, 1 in 4 Delawareans lives with a disability.
It's vital that the digital spaces we use every day are accessible. Features like alternative text for images, captions on videos, keyboard navigation, and adaptive technology help ensure everyone can fully participate online and in their communities.
Disability Rights Delaware can help Delawareans with disabilities to understand their rights to accessible technology, services, spaces, and voting. We can also help with requesting resonable accommodations and accessing assistive technology and equipment.

THANK YOU to everyone who supported the Combined Campaign for Justice this past year! As our Deputy Director Sarah Rhine observes: "Your willingness to show up and to invest in this work means more than you may realize. Because of you, people in our community have access to justice. You are helping us create fairness where there might otherwise be none. Together, we are ensuring that justice isn’t only available to those who can afford it. And literally saving lives."

Together, in 2025 we raised $2.57 million for Delawareans in need of civil legal services. These funds helped Delaware's trio of civil legal agencies—Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. - CLASI, Delaware Volunteer Legal Services, and Legal Services Corporation of Delaware—give an additional 1,400 low-income families, veterans, seniors, and domestic violence survivors a fighting chance. On behalf of Delaware's legal aid agencies, and the clients we serve, we heartily thank each and every one of our donors, supporters, and friends for making this possible.
Here are some remarks from CLASI's Deputy Director Sarah Rhine on the impact that funds raised by CCJ have on everyday Delawareans: https://delawareccj.org/an-introduction-to-clasis-new-deputy-director/

It's CLASI's 80th anniversary!
Founded on May 2, 1946 as the Legal Aid Society of Delaware, we served 204 clients in our first year—with just one part-time attorney on staff and a $3,600 budget donated by members of the Delaware Bar.
Today, we are a team of 80 and handle over 7,000 cases each year, assisting more than 17,000 people across the state.
As we've evolved to meet the changing legal needs of our communities over the past eight decades, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to our founders' vision of equal justice for all Delawareans, regardless of income or background.
For the rest of our anniversary year, we’ll be sharing the voices and stories of the people behind this work—our staff, clients, and partners, past and present.
Join us as we reflect on key moments in CLASI's history, the impact of legal aid, and the path ahead for equal justice in Delaware.
