We invite you to join us in these efforts.

DCADV is a statewide, 501c3 nonprofit organization and coalition of organizations, groups and individuals that strive to promote conditions that prevent and eliminate domestic violence. We work in partnership with direct service providers, government officials, and business and community partners to promote equality in relationships as we strive to alter the social conditions that allow violence and abuse to occur.

PRIDE month is an opportunity to celebrate the le***an, gay, transgender, and q***r community. It is also important to note that the LGBTQ+ community experiences intimate partner violence. According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention 2010 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, le***an and bisexual women are more likely to experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime than straight women. According to the 2015 United States Transgender Survey, transgender people experience IPV at higher rates than cisgender people. This data tells one story, the personal experiences of IPV victims tell us more and highlight the need for responsive, trauma-informed services throughout our state.

Because we all come from unique backgrounds and experiences, it can be surprising to hear that someone else’s may be vastly different from your own. This doesn’t mean the other person’s experiences aren’t real - it just means they’re different. Both realities can be true at the same time. We can learn about others by listening to their stories and gaining new perspectives. Communities thrive when we accept and respect others. https://www.dcadv.org/prevention
