This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the heroes who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice is not forgotten. 🇺🇸

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Awards Recital and Ceremony at the The Music School of Delaware and presenting official Delaware House of Representatives tributes to two truly phenomenal young musicians from our community.

Congratulations to Anna Gao and Ian Sim on earning Merit Scholarships through a highly competitive audition process and for their outstanding performances. Their talent, discipline, and dedication were incredible to witness.

It was wonderful to celebrate not only these students, but also the teachers, families, and mentors who help nurture the arts here in Delaware. Our district is home to some remarkably talented young people, and tonight was a beautiful reminder of the importance of supporting music and arts education.

Thank you to the Music School of Delaware for hosting such a special evening and for investing in the next generation of artists and performers.

I’m happy to share that yesterday my legislation to codify the Johnson Amendment was released from committee. This long-standing federal rule prevents tax-exempt organizations from endorsing political candidates or using charitable funds for partisan political purposes.

Especially now, when almost everything is becoming politicized, it’s so important to protect the nonpartisan role these organizations play. Non-profits are issue-based organizations, not political agents. We rely on them in the legislature to inform our decision-making, because we operate with the understanding that their loyalties lie only with their mission statements, not political candidates.

By putting this into state code, we’re preserving a decades old standard that protects their integrity and ensures they can continue their work free from political pressure.

Home health care and community-based services play such an important role in the quality of life for so many Delawareans and their families.

I appreciated the opportunity to meet with the Delaware Association for Home & Community Care during their 2026 Home Care Advocacy Day at Legislative Hall and to discuss the impact home-based care has on people’s lives and the challenges facing the caregivers and providers who make this work possible every day.

Today we welcomed Teacher of the Year nominees from school districts across Delaware to Legislative Hall.

It was wonderful to recognize these incredible educators and the impact they make in the lives of Delaware students. I want to especially recognize Delaware’s Teacher of the Year winner, Jenna DiEleuterio of Talley Middle School! We’re so fortunate to have such an incredible educator in our district.

It was great to spend some time with Moms Demand Action during their advocacy day at Legislative Hall.

They do such important work raising awareness and pushing for policies that help keep our communities safe. I’m proud to stand with them and support efforts to reduce gun violence.
