Trask Middle School Trask Middle School is dedicated to provide an equitable and inclusive learning environment for all! Trask was built in 1976, and named after Emma B. Trask.

We are located right beside Laney High School, and have an enrollment of approximately 800 students.

Check out Mrs. Bennett and our Bears during an Enviroscape presentation! Mrs. Bennett went beyond posting CHAMPS expectations by clearly explaining what successful participation looked like for this specific lesson. Students knew how to listen, when to speak, how to ask for help, and what they were learning about local watersheds and how human actions affect water quality. These expectations connect to North Carolina science standards focused on understanding ecosystems and the impact of human activities on the environment. When expectations and learning goals are clear, students can focus on what matters most: learning! ¡Echen un vistazo a la Sra. Bennett y a nuestros «Bears» durante una presentación de «Enviroscape»! La Sra. Bennett fue más allá de simplemente publicar las expectativas del sistema CHAMPS; explicó con claridad en qué consistía una participación exitosa para esta lección en particular. Check out our 6th graders in Mrs. French’s ELA classroom! Our Bears are learning how authors create mood and how readers identify it through details in a text. Mrs. French makes the learning target clear, connects new learning to prior reading, and uses organized stations and explicit expectations to help students work independently. With clear CHAMPS expectations in place, she can support students in small groups while others stay focused on their learning. This is what intentional lesson design and student ownership look like in action! ¡Echen un vistazo a nuestros alumnos de sexto grado en la clase de Lengua y Literatura (ELA) de la Sra. French! Nuestros «osos» están aprendiendo cómo los autores crean una atmósfera o estado de ánimo, y cómo los lectores pueden identificarlo a través de los detalles presentes en un texto. La Sra. French deja claro el objetivo de aprendizaje, vincula los nuevos conocimientos con lecturas previas y utiliza estaciones de trabajo organizadas, junto con expectativas explícitas, para ayudar a los estudiantes a trabajar de manera independiente. Our first ELA NC Check In is this Tuesday. STEAM Night is coming up on November 2nd, bring the entire family! Spirit Week is next week and we are jump starting with Unity Day this Wednesday, wear your orange! 7th graders head out on their first CLDA field trip this week! Quarter 1 ends this Friday! Our final PTA Crossfire night is also this Friday! Spirit Week is Coming! October 27–30
Our homerooms voted and Spirit Week is officially on! Help your student show their Bear pride with these four themes:

Too Tired Tuesday (Oct. 27): Students can roll out of bed and come to school in their comfiest pajamas. Slippers are welcome, but please leave blankets at home and make sure PJs are school appropriate.

Twinsday Wednesday (Oct. 28): Students can match outfits with a friend, a group, or even a teacher. Seeing double is the goal!

Thriller Thursday (Oct. 29): Students may wear their Halloween costumes. To keep the day safe and fun for everyone, please no masks, face paint, toy weapons, gory costumes, or inflatables. Costumes must follow the school dress code.

Freaky Friday (Oct. 30): Students dress like teachers, and teachers dress like students! A lanyard and a coffee mug go a long way. We ask that students keep it kind and not dress up as one specific teacher.

Participation is optional, and no one needs to buy anything new. Things from around the house work great! The school dress code still applies every day. When in doubt, leave it out.

We are excited to offer families an opportunity to paint our rock to celebrate birthdays, accomplishments, business partners and events! Tell us what you want to celebrate and the design you plan on painting, select a date, and pay the fee using the link provided. Rock fees benefit Trask PTA which provides support and celebrations to all staff and students at Trask.
Rock Rental Fee: $25 (Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Sunday) Please pay within three days of sign up here:
