Earl F. Hebig age 95, of Lismore, MN died Thursday, October 15, 2026 at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth, MN. He was born on November 4, 1930, on the family farm, to Thomas Jr. and Lucia (Pick) Hebig. He attended St. Anthony Catholic school in Lismore. He spent his life living his faith, caring for his family, working the land, and raising cattle. Earl developed a strong work ethic, a generous heart, and a practical approach to life, and always believed in helping others.

Earl proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, from February 15, 1952 to November 15, 1953. As a tractor-scraper operator, he performed his duties with dedication and took great pride in having served his country. His patriotism remained an important part of his life. During his 70 years as a member of American Legion Post 636, Earl never missed a military funeral or a Memorial Day service. He believed in honoring those who served and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. His faithful attendance was a testament to the deep respect he held for his fellow veterans.

Family was at the heart of Earl’s life. He lived with and cared for his parents until their passing. Earl’s devotion to his parents spoke volumes about his loyalty, love, and sense of responsibility. A lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Earl lived his faith throughout his life.

Earl farmed the family farm and raised cattle, work that suited his strong work ethic and practical nature. But his cattle were more than livestock to him. He often gave them names and treated them like pets, showing a softer side that those who knew him well would recognize. He found great satisfaction in giving to others. He was a strong supporter of many charities, especially those benefiting children, and his generosity was often quiet but deeply meaningful.

Earl’s nieces and nephews held a particularly special place in his heart. He thought of them as his own “kids” and cared about each one in his own way by offering advice, sharing a laugh, or simply being their “Uncle Earl”. He enjoyed his visits with them and sharing his many stories.

Earl leaves behind a legacy of faith, family devotion, patriotism, hard work and generosity. He gave his time to honor fellow veterans, his heart to his family, and his resources to those in need. He will be remembered for his kind words of wisdom, his sharp mind and his unmistakable wit. He had a way of offering just the right words at the right time, often accompanied by a clever remark or a twinkle in his eye.

Earl is survived by his sister, Avis (Veryl) Stoffel, his brother, Daryl (Felice) Hebig, and his 18 nieces and nephews: Cathy Ruesch, Michael Arens, Karen Sachen, Tom Krogman, Pat Risberg, Steve Krogman, Kay Krogman, Curt Lorang, Todd Lorang, Dale Lorang, Jim Lorang, Lori Kuznia, Mark Stoffel, Ellen Henning, Chris Rokeh, John Stoffel, Allen Hebig, and Martin Hebig.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mildred Arens, Ivadell Krogman, and Irma Lorang, brothers in law, Urban Arens, Amos Krogman, and Dave Lorang and his nieces, Connie Kozitza and Lois Imholte.

He leaves behind a lifetime of good deeds, treasured memories, and plenty of reasons to smile. May he rest in peace.
