💜 Know the Signs. Help Save a Life.

Domestic violence doesn't always leave visible scars. Warning signs may include isolation from family and friends, controlling behavior, constant monitoring, threats, intimidation, or unexplained injuries.

If you recognize these signs in someone you know, listen without judgment, offer support, and encourage them to seek help when they are ready.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let's work together to create a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.

This October, the Town of Wilson’s Mills joins communities across the nation in recognizing National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This observance serves as a time to raise awareness about domestic violence, honor survivors, and support efforts to prevent abuse in all forms.

Domestic violence affects individuals of every age, background, and community. By increasing awareness, fostering open conversations, and connecting those in need with resources, we can work together to create safer homes and stronger communities.

If you or someone you know needs help, support is available. The National Domestic Violence Hotline can be reached 24/7 at 800-799-SAFE (7233) or by visiting www.thehotline.org.

The Town of Wilson’s Mills stands with survivors and encourages residents to learn more, speak up, and help build a future free from domestic violence.

🍂 Fall Driving Reminder from WMPD

As the seasons begin to change, so do driving conditions.

Please remember to:

🚗 Slow down in residential areas and school zones
👀 Watch for pedestrians, bicyclists, and children near the roadway
🌅 Use extra caution during darker morning and evening hours
📵 Put the phone down and stay focused behind the wheel
🛑 Come to a complete stop at stop signs

A few extra seconds of attention can make a big difference.

Help us keep Wilson’s Mills safe as we head into fall.

🚆 See Tracks? Think Train!® Week | September 21–27

This week, the Wilson’s Mills Police Department is joining communities across the country in recognizing See Tracks? Think Train!® Week, a national effort focused on railroad safety.

Railroad tracks and crossings can become dangerous quickly, and a few simple reminders can help keep everyone safe:

🚫 Never walk, play, or take photos on railroad tracks.
🛑 Always obey crossing signals and signs.
🚗 Never drive around lowered crossing gates.
👀 Look and listen carefully before crossing.
🚂 Remember: trains can’t stop quickly.

Whether you’re driving, walking, biking, or simply passing through the area, make safe choices around railroad tracks and crossings.

See Tracks? Think Train!

📹 Did You Know? Wilson’s Mills Has a Community Camera Program

The Wilson’s Mills Police Department, in partnership with the Town and local community organizations, uses a network of security cameras to help support crime prevention and investigations.

The program currently includes cameras located throughout several neighborhoods, the Wilson’s Mills Community Park, and Town Hall, with continued expansion planned as our community grows.

These cameras are one more tool WMPD can use to help protect our neighborhoods, businesses, and public spaces.

Community safety works best when we work together. Residents, HOAs, churches, and businesses interested in learning more about the program can contact the Wilson’s Mills Police Department or click the link here: https://www.wilsonsmillsnc.org/police-department/wmpd-camera-program
