🔴 RED RIBBON WEEK STARTS TOMORROW! 🔴

Starting tomorrow, Pulaski County joins communities across the nation in observing Red Ribbon Week, the nation's largest and longest-running drug awareness and prevention campaign.

To honor this important week, the Veterans Swinging Bridge at the Winamac Town Park will be lit entirely red October 23rd and October 24th! 🌉✨

Why Red Ribbon Week Matters to Us:

Red Ribbon Week is more than just wearing red or lighting up our local landmarks, it is a powerful commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and drug-free environment for our children and future generations.

For Our Children: Early prevention and open conversations empower youth to make smart, healthy choices. It lets our kids know that their community stands behind them, ready to support and guide them away from substance abuse.

For Our Community as a Whole: Strong, healthy families build a resilient community. By uniting in prevention education and support, we lower substance use rates, strengthen local resources, and ensure Pulaski County remains a safe and thriving place to live and grow.

How You Can Participate:

🌉 Take a walk by the Winamac Town Park in the evening to see the bridge lit red! Snap a photo and tag us in your posts using and .

💬 Have a conversation with the young people in your life about the importance of making healthy, drug-free choices.

🔴 Wear red to show your support for a drug-free community!

Together, we can make a difference. Let’s shine a bright light on prevention and support our youth every step of the way!

🚫RECALL ALERT🚫

➡️October 8, 2026, Gardeners Basics of Spanish Fork, Utah, is recalling one-pound bags of broccoli sprouting seeds because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Nearly half of all Hoosiers live in residences with septic
systems (onsite sewage systems). These systems can
effectively treat sewage and protect you and the public from
disease that is carried by human waste.
This publication helps those who live in homes or operate
businesses that have onsite sewage systems. We will
explain how onsite sewage systems work, how to keep
them working, and provide recommendations for living
with onsite sewage systems, including the operation and
maintenance of septic tanks, outlet filters, distribution
boxes, and absorption fields. The goal is to help you
lengthen the effective lifespan of your onsite sewage
systems and avoid the unpleasant experience of sewage
backups or other failures that cause inadequately treated
sewage to leave the site.
