"A university in Oregon that fired a Jewish professor after he reported several incidents, including purported antisemitic remarks made by its president, has settled with the professor.

Linfield University, a private school in McMinnville, will pay $1 million to English professor Daniel Pollack-Pelzner for his wrongful termination in 2021. Pollack-Pelzner had accused the school’s president, Miles K. Davis, of making antisemitic remarks in front of him, including jokes about gas chambers and comments on the size of Jewish noses. He was fired shortly after he went public with these and other accusations, including some regarding allegations of sexual harassment directed at members of the school’s board of trustees." Chairman Beau Correll went on LiveNOW from Fox this morning to defend the President's authority to exclude press outlets from the White House and break down the TRO in CNN v. Trump.

His message: the President has the power to pull a media outlet's White House press pass. Anyone telling you a judge just took that away is spinning more than a Maytag machine...

Here's what the eight-page order actually says, and what it doesn't:

What it says: this was a timing question. Notice and an opportunity to respond have to come before the pass is pulled. That's it.

What it doesn't say: not one sentence questions the President's authority to grant or deny press credentials. This isn't a First Amendment ruling. The judge never got there. The power is still his.

What the outlets actually won: a badge that gets them through the gate and into the briefing room. That's it.

Not a chair.

Not a seat on Air Force One, a spot in the pool, or a guaranteed question.

Hundreds of hard passes, fewer than fifty seats.

The White House assigns them.

Nobody owns one.

The fix takes less than 14 days: send notice to these three outlets, take a written response, issue a decision, revoke. No courtroom. No judge.

As Chairman Correll put it: this was a paperwork issue dressed up as a constitutional victory. Don't buy it.
