Our office is currently conducting an investigation after our Investigators and emergency personnel recovered a deceased individual from Tims Ford Lake today.

At this time, the identity of the individual has not been confirmed, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as family members can be appropriately notified.

We are asking the public for assistance. If you know anyone who is currently missing or unaccounted for and may be connected to this incident, please get in touch with Franklin County Consolidated Communications at 931-967-2331. Or contact us directly through Messenger.

We ask everyone to avoid speculation or sharing unconfirmed information while investigators work to establish the facts.

Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

BLOOD DRIVE - GIVE LOCAL, SAVE LOCAL!

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Blood Assurance for a community blood drive, and we need your help! Sometimes, helping someone doesn’t require knowing their name or hearing their story. Sometimes, it’s as simple as taking a little time out of your day to roll up your sleeve and give.

The blood you donate could be there for a child, a parent, a neighbor, a friend, or someone you’ve never met. You may never know whose life you helped save—but for that person and their family, your generosity could mean everything. That’s what makes a community strong. We look out for one another, especially when someone needs us most.

A has been issued on behalf of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for 69-year-old Gary Keagle. He was last seen Saturday afternoon in Elora, wearing grey sweatpants, a blue long-sleeve shirt, brown shoes, and a blue hat. He is believed to be on foot. Gary is 5'6" tall, 165 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes, and he has a medical condition that may impair his ability to return safely without assistance.

Our office responded to a fire on Highway 64 Westbound near Alyce Lane. A trailer carrying several bales of hay caught fire. The fire department responded, and the bales of hay were moved to a field beside Highway 64.

These bales of hay will likely produce smoke and smolder for the next few hours. Our office and the fire department will be monitoring the situation regularly.

09/14/2026

On September 14, 2026, at approximately 0150, deputies from our office, Alto-Oak Grove VFD, Capitol Hill VFD, Hillsboro VFD, Decherd FD, AEDC FD, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded to 3010 Gum Creek Road in reference to a house fire.

Sadly, Patricia Ann Perry, age 80, died as a result of the fire. Four other individuals were injured and were transported from the scene to receive medical treatment.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the fire remain under investigation. Our office is working with the TBI to determine the cause of the fire and gather all available information.

Our office arrested Deputy Billy Harris following an investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident on the evening of September 12th, 2026.

He was charged with domestic violence assault, and his court date is October 1st, 2026. He was released on September 13th, 2026, after posting a $2,500 bond.
