Rest in peace, Brent Swisher 🙏🏼

Avin Brent Swisher, 56, of Augusta, WV passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA.

Born on July 20, 1970 in Wi******er, VA, he was the son of Avin L. Swisher and Donna E. Bennett Swisher.

Brent was a graduate of Hampshire High School, Class of 1988. He had worked for 27 years as an IT Specialist for FEMA. A dedicated volunteer firefighter, he joined the Slanesville Fire Co in November of 1992 and then the Augusta Volunteer Fire Company in March of 2001 where he currently served as Deputy Chief. He was a member of the Clinton Lodge No. 86 of Romney. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and as a family man, a great friend and community member who who was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Cook) Swisher, daughter, Victoria Swisher of Augusta, WV, and sisters, Julie Whitacre (Rex) of Cross Junction, VA and Becky Ward (John), of Augusta, WV.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Hope Christian Church, 15338 Northwestern Pike, Augusta, WV 26704 with Jason Judy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior.

All arrangements are handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV.

Just a small preview of what you have to look forward to at our Bazaar tomorrow, October 17 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Our vendors are ready for you to stop by and see what great deals that they will have available.

Our auxiliary will be selling breakfast items from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and Lunch items from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

There is no admission fee to join us to browse, shop and eat!!

Our auxiliary will be selling breakfast from 9:00 - 11:00 AM and lunch from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Our vendors are getting their treasures ready for this Saturday's Bazaar. These photos represent the vast array of items that were available at last years Bazaar, so you will need to come by this Saturday, October 17 to see what they have in store for you this year.

Our Holiday Bazaar will be 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM this Saturday, October 17 and in addition to the wonderful offerings by our vendors, our Auxiliary will be offering breakfast from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and lunch from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

There is no admission fee to browse, shop and purchase your food items.
