A very BIG THANK YOU to Toby Schrader Dempsey for graciously dropping off some of Toby’s Sweets at the Norway Fire Department today! ❤️🚒

Toby brought us a wonderful assortment of cookies and her delicious Pumpkin Braid Cinnamon Rolls. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and we truly appreciate her taking the time to think of our members.

Acts of kindness like this mean a lot to our department and are another reminder of how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive community.

Thank you, Toby, for making our day a little sweeter! 🍪🎃❤️

🚨 OUR OFFICE IS THE ROADSIDE. PLEASE HELP US GET HOME SAFE. 🚨

Today is National Slow Down, Move Over Day.

When our crews are out on the highway handling an incident, the road becomes our workspace—and a very dangerous one.

In 2023 alone, 50 emergency workers across the country were struck and killed by passing vehicles. We need your help to prevent these tragedies.

If you see the Norway Fire Department or any emergency, utility, or maintenance vehicles stopped on the shoulder with their lights flashing, Wisconsin State Law (Statute 346.072) requires you to:

• ⬅️ MOVE OVER: Safely switch lanes to create a buffer zone between your vehicle and the scene.
• ⬇️ SLOW DOWN: If a safe lane change isn’t possible or you are on a two-lane road, significantly reduce your speed until you are completely past the scene.

The Penalties:
Failing to move over or slow down isn't just dangerous—it's expensive. A citation carries hefty fines, 3 demerit points on your license, and a potential driver's license suspension if a crash occurs.

Please stay alert, put down the distractions, and give us room to work. We want to make sure everyone—our crew and your family—gets home safely tonight.

🍂 As colder temperatures begin to creep in, many of us will soon be turning on our furnaces and lighting our fireplaces.

Before you do, take a few minutes to make sure your heating equipment is safe and ready for the season.

✅ Have your furnace and chimney inspected and serviced.
✅ Make necessary repairs before using your heating equipment.
✅ Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
✅ Keep anything that can burn a safe distance from fireplaces and other heating sources.

A little prevention today can help prevent a tragedy tomorrow. Don't wait until it's too late!

Stay safe and stay warm this fall!

🔥 Three Years of the Norway Fire Department 🚒

Today marks three years since the Norway Fire Department transitioned from the Wind Lake Volunteer Fire Company to a municipal fire department.

Over these past three years, we have accomplished a great deal—strengthening our organization, expanding training and EMS capabilities, improving fire prevention and inspections, developing Norway C.A.R.E.S., advancing firefighter health and safety initiatives, implementing new policies and procedures, and building a stronger foundation for the future.

As Fire Chief, I am incredibly proud of the progress this department has made. Most of all, I am proud of our members who continue to step up, learn, grow, and serve our community with dedication and professionalism.

There is still much work ahead, but I am proud of where we are today and excited about where we are going.

Happy 3rd Anniversary to the Norway Fire Department!

Proud of what we have accomplished. Proud of our people. Focused on the future. 🚒

Norway Fire Department Receives Generous Donations.

The Norway Fire Department was recently the fortunate recipient of two generous donations from the We Energies Foundation and Casey’s General Store.

These grants allowed the department to purchase an IV warmer and a medication refrigerator for storing medications that require refrigeration.

We extremely grateful for the generosity and support of these two organizations.

These items will be valuable additions to our EMS capabilities and will help us continue providing high-quality care to the residents and visitors we serve.

Thank you to the We Energies Foundation and Casey’s General Store for supporting the Norway Fire Department and our community!

25 years ago tonight, nearly 3,000 people were going about their daily routines, not knowing what tomorrow would bring. Let that sink in.

Tomorrow, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and remember the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and resilience shown that day.

May we never forget those we lost, the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all who ran toward danger to help others.

Let their memory remind us to stand strong and united as one Nation through every challenge.

Tonight, hug your family a little tighter. Kiss your loved ones goodnight. And be thankful for every moment we’re given.

These words were written by Father Mychal Judge, Chaplain of the NYC Fire Department, on September 10, 2001, one day before he was killed at the World Trade Center.

"Good days, bad days, but never a boring day on this job. You do what God called you to do. You show up, you put one foot in front of the other, and you do your job, which is a mystery and a surprise.

You have no idea, when you get in that rig, what God is calling you to do. But he needs you...so you keep going.

Keep Supporting each other. Be kind to each other. Love each other. You love the job. We all do. What a blessing that is."- Father Mychal Judge September 10, 2001
