This week, at the request of Auburn NH Fire Department, the District's Confined Space Entry Rescue (CSER) team stood by on site while a contractor performed hot work inside a purged 12,000-gallon gasoline tank.
Our five-person team monitored the atmosphere, kept rescue systems rigged and ready, and stayed at the opening for the duration of the job. Nobody needed rescuing, and that's exactly how a standby should go.
The District maintains a highly trained and fully equipped CSER team for hazardous materials and other emergencies in confined and elevated spaces. That includes atmospheric monitoring, hazard mitigation, and technical rope rescue, available to our member communities whenever they need it.
Thank you to Auburn NH Fire Department for the call, and to CommTank for running a safe, professional job site.
