Celebrating a new chapter in community care!

Today, Navajo EMS joined the historic grand opening of the Echo Cliffs Health Center, a 123,000-square-foot outpatient facility bringing essential health services closer to Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute families.

The center offers primary care, pediatrics, pharmacy, eye care, physical therapy, women’s health, specialty clinics, and more.

Led by Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) leadership, the project also includes the Echo Cliffs EMS Substation and an onsite helicopter pad.

The EMS substation is an extension of our Tuba City Station, serving the western corridor of the Navajo Nation. Navajo EMS will coordinate emergency response and patient transport services. Echo Cliffs Health Center is an outpatient clinic, not a hospital.

Thank you to TCRHCC leadership and everyone who helped make this milestone possible. We’re proud to be part of this facility and to serve the communities who will benefit from it!

🚧 TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! 🚧

The Navajo Division of Public Safety is seeing an increase in people attempting to cross dangerous flooded roadways in vehicles and on foot. We urge everyone to exercise extreme caution. Never drive or walk into floodwater.

Water may be deeper and moving faster than it appears, and the roadway underneath may be damaged or washed away. Seeing another vehicle cross does not mean it is safe for you to follow.

Keep these flood safety tips in mind:
🔹 Turn around at flooded roads and washes. Choose a safe alternate route or delay travel until conditions improve.
🔹 Respect road closures and barricades. Never move them or drive around them.
🔹 Even shallow floodwater is dangerous. Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock an adult down, and 12 inches can carry away a small car. Trucks and SUVs are also at risk.
🔹 Keep children and pets away from floodwater. Do not allow them to play near flooded washes, drainage areas, or roadways.
🔹 Stay informed and seek higher ground if flooding threatens. Follow weather alerts, local road updates, and instructions from emergency personnel.

Your safety matters to your family, your community, and the first responders who serve you. Do not risk your life to cross a flooded roadway. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

This week, Navajo EMS personnel Josh Ellison and Phillip Yazzie attended the Vision: FirstNet Users Summit and participated in the Public Safety Broadband Technology Association’s Gathering of Tribal Public Safety seminar.

The seminar brought participants together to discuss the future of tribal public safety, resilience, interoperability, and emergency preparedness. These conversations offer valuable insights for Navajo EMS and the entire Navajo Division of Public Safety, helping inform how our agencies communicate, coordinate, and prepare to serve our communities during emergencies.

Thank you to Josh and Phillip for representing Navajo EMS and contributing to these important discussions!
