Weld RE-4 School District is known for its superior schools and hometown feel. Located in western Weld County, we serve Windsor, Severance, and West Greeley. Our school district serves approximately 8,000 students in nine traditional schools and one charter with three schools. We strive to inspire innovation and empower success for every student in every classroom, through our comprehensive academic programs, as well as International Baccalaureate, project-based learning, and STEM options. At our high schools, students have access to Advanced Placement courses, dual credit, and concurrent enrollment programs. They have the opportunity to explore potential career paths through a variety of programs, such as culinary arts, Future Farmers of America, and industrial design and technology. Across the district, our students have access to a variety of technology tools. Technology is just one of many ways we inspire innovation in our students, who consistently outperform the state average on standardized math and language arts tests. However, when it comes to measures of success, what makes us most proud is the consistent recognition Weld RE-4 students receive in their schools, in our community, and beyond for their academic achievements, creative talents, athletic prowess, and community service. In Weld RE-4, the ultimate evidence of our efforts to empower our students to succeed is our graduation rate, which is among the highest in northern Colorado; 89 percent of our graduates go on to postsecondary education, and 10 percent enter the military or workforce. Weld RE-4 graduates receive United States Military Academy appointments and Boettcher Foundation and Daniels Fund scholarship awards.

Orchard Hill Elementary made the most of the fall sunshine with a field trip to the Raindance National Golf Course. Hitting the course before the cold, our students enjoyed every minute of the stations, from the tee box to the green, some even scoring a hole in one.

Keeping your children safe, prepared, and supported is at the heart of everything we do. ❤️

We proactively work to prepare our school staff, students, and buildings for a variety of safety scenarios. We utilize the i love u guys Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol, which establishes common language and standard procedures across five key scenarios:

🚪 Hold: Keep hallways clear; stay in place.

🔒 Secure: Hazard outside; exterior doors are locked, no entry or exit.

🔐 Lockdown: Hazard inside; classrooms secured ("Locks, Lights, Out of Sight").

🏃 Evacuate: Moving safely from one area to another.

🌪️ Shelter: Hazard-specific protection (such as severe weather or hazmat incidents).

This weekend, chat with your children about our Standard Response Protocol language. 💬 Utilize the i love you guys materials to discuss what they can expect in each scenario and talk through any feelings.

Student Spotlight: Weston Hancock (Ridgeline Middle School) 🌟

Over the past year, Weston has participated in the Democracy in Dialogue program through the Smithsonian, has advocated for more student voice at Ridgeline Middle School, was selected to be part of the student panel for the Gifted Education visit by the Colorado Department of Education, and was accepted into GE-SAC for a one-year term. The GE-SAC is the Gifted Education State Advisory Committee where parents, teachers, community members, and students make suggestions to the Colorado State Board of Education on all aspects related to gifted student education. Weston is the only student representative for Congressional District 4 and the only middle school student in GE-SAC.

On top of all of that, Weston was one of two students in the state selected by Governor Jared Polis to be "Governor for the Day." He was selected from more than 150 applicants across the state, and will "take office" October 28. 👏👏👏

"Weston Hancock is an extraordinary leader who is continuing to make an impact in his school, community, and for those students in Gifted Education," said teacher Mr. Santy. "Weston’s leadership is one of his many strengths, and I am excited to see what challenges he handles next. "
