Ever wondered what happens when kids build robots to explore a rainforest? Come find out! 🌳

Robo Jam 3 is Saturday, October 24, 10 am to 2 pm, in the basement of Heritage Hall on Company G Road in Windsor (between the Windsor House and Friend & Co.).

This year's FIRST LEGO League theme is BIOGLOW, all about the diversity of life on Earth. Students in grades 4 to 8 have designed, built, and coded LEGO robots to take on missions inspired by plants, animals, fungi, and the ecosystems that connect them. Stop by to cheer on the teams, see the robots up close, and learn how to start a team in your own school or community.

Spooky season surprises may be lurking too. 🎃 [Free and open to the public]

Last week the American Precision Museum brought a hands-on activity to the IMTS Student Summit in Chicago, and hundreds of people rolled up their sleeves to try it.

The activity asked visitors to assemble parts that had to fit together every time, no matter which piece they picked up. That's the principle of interchangeable parts, the idea that took shape in our 1846 armory building in Windsor, Vermont, and changed how nearly everything is made. Students got it quickly. So did plenty of the adults.

Between rounds, we talked with students, teachers, and industry professionals about our free STEM+M kits for classrooms, and about how to help more young people see manufacturing as a career worth choosing. Many of the students we met are closer to that choice than you might think.

Thank you to the Smartforce Student Summit at IMTS for having us, and to everyone who stopped by our booth.

Bridgeport Serial Number One is back in Boston. It left Chicago yesterday afternoon and drove straight through, no stops, until it rolled back into town this morning. IMTS is officially behind it. One trade show, thousands of miles, and one very committed truck driver later, it's closing in on home. Windsor's the last stop!

The first Bridgeport milling machine spent 6 days on the floor at the International Manufacturing Technology Show, surrounded by the machines it helped make possible. Bridgeport #1 drew a steady crowd last week in the Gardner Business Media booth. Some visitors audibly gasped when they realized what they were looking at. A group of high school students stopped and learned all they could about the very first Bridgeport because they are currently learning machining on a modern Bridgeport in their class. We also gave out all 500 special edition Bridgeport #1 trading cards!

Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat, made a donation, or took a selfie. Add your Bridgeport #1 selfie in the comments! We'll keep you posted on Bridgeport #1's trip home.

Bridgeport Serial Number One just rolled into Chicago proper, and it's practically parked in the Bridgeport neighborhood.

We didn't plan that. A hundred-year-old milling machine landing in a neighborhood with the same name, we'll take the coincidence.

IMTS starts in three weeks. Let us know in the comments if you're planning on stopping by the Gardner Media booth to see the Bridgeport.

Holy Toledo, Bridgeport #1 is trucking it today!

We sat down to post about it reaching Ohio, checked the tracker again, and it had already closed in on South Bend, Indiana.

If you were on I-80 or I-90 today, you might have shared the road with the first Bridgeport milling machine ever made.

Chicago, here we come!

Bridgeport Serial Number One made it to Boston. 📍

Yes, that's the opposite direction of Chicago. We figure it's taking in some of the famous sights before it heads to IMTS!

The end destination is still IMTS 2026, September 14 to 19, where Bridgeport gets a full week on display in Chicago.

New postcard every stop. Follow along to see where it lands next.
