You heard it here first. She wants you to check the smoke detectors.

Best practice is to test your smoke detector batteries on a monthly basis, and change your batteries with the changing of the clocks! With daylight savings time coming up on November 1st, this is your reminder to check those batteries and get ready to change them.

Firefighters had the opportunity to connect with students, showcase their equipment, answer questions, and share important fire safety tips.

Fire prevention education is crucial for keeping our communities safe, and we’re always grateful for opportunities to connect with and educate the next generation.

🚨PLEASE SHARE: Fall Burning Restrictions Begin October 1st! West Virginia’s fall fire season takes effect October 1 - December 31.

During this time, outdoor burning is permitted only between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Fires must be completely extinguished by 7:00 a.m.

🚨 A few important reminders:
• Burn only natural vegetation such as leaves, brush and yard clippings
• NEVER leave a fire unattended
• Maintain a 10 ft. safety strip around burn area
• Make sure fire is completely extinguished when finished

❤️ Please burn responsibly and help us keep Putnam County & all areas safe this fall.

Today, we gathered alongside Putnam County EMS and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

The Winfield Post American Legion held their traditional 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, including a 21-gun salute on the front steps of the Putnam County Courthouse.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the countless lives forever changed that day.

We remember. And we will never forget. 🇺🇸

Welcome Back, Putnam County!

As a new school year begins tomorrow, we ask our community for a little extra patience and understanding as everyone adjusts to new routines and traffic patterns.

For some, it may be their first day riding the bus. For others, it may be their first time driving to school. Please slow down, stay alert, and give yourself a little extra time as we all settle back into the school-year routine.

We care about the safety of our community and wish all of our students, families, teachers, and staff a safe, happy, and successful school year!
