⭐ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: OWEN MONK ⭐

This one is a little bittersweet!

Owen Monk joined the City of Winner in June 2025 as a part-time Corrections Officer before moving into a full-time role in the summer of 2026. Now, he’s taking the next big step in his career as he heads to Texas to begin his journey with U.S. Border Patrol! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

During his time with the Winner Jail, Owen says his favorite part has been the coworkers and relationships he’s made. While we’ll certainly miss having him on the team, we’re excited to see him take on this new challenge.

Part of Owen’s next chapter and something he is looking forward to includes a six-month academy, where he’ll work toward learning Spanish and becoming bilingual. His long-term goal is to work in Homeland Security’s human trafficking unit, and he sees this opportunity as an important step toward making that dream a reality.

His advice to anyone considering a career in law enforcement? β€œDon’t worry about the dollar amount. The experiences are worth it.” Owen believes getting your foot in the door can lead to opportunities you may have never imagined. His own experience in the corrections department has helped him take those steps toward his goals.

Owen’s last day with the Winner Jail is this Sunday. Although it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we’re proud of him for pursuing something he’s dreamed about for so long.

Thank you for your time and service to the City of Winner, Owen! We’re wishing you the best of luck in the academy and all the exciting opportunities ahead. We’ll be cheering you on! πŸ‘

Hats off to our City of Winner firefighters!πŸ”₯🚨

Our firefighters stopped by the elementary school for National Fire Prevention Week! The students got a chance to check out the fire truck, climb inside, meet our firefighters, and of course, grab some fun stickers! ❀️

We love seeing our City departments get out into the community and make memories with our youngest residents. Thank you to our firefighters for taking the time to visit the students! πŸ‘πŸš’
