Chambers county is now under a burn ban

🚨 BURN BAN IN EFFECT — CHAMBERS COUNTY 🚨

Effective September 24, 2026, Chambers County Judge Jimmy Sylvia has issued a burn ban, which includes a prohibition on outdoor burning throughout Chambers County due to continued hot, dry conditions and the increased threat of dangerous, fast-moving wildfires.

🔥 Outdoor burning is prohibited until further notice.

The order does provide certain exceptions, including authorized firefighter training, certain public utility and agricultural operations, and qualifying prescribed burns conducted in accordance with state requirements.

⚠️ Please take this order seriously. A violation may constitute a Class C misdemeanor and may be enforced by a duly commissioned Peace Officer with authority in Chambers County.

We ask everyone to use extra caution, avoid activities that could produce sparks or start a fire, and help us protect our residents, first responders, and property.

Please share to help spread the word.

On September 11, 2001, our nation witnessed unimaginable tragedy—and extraordinary courage.

Today, we honor the innocent lives lost, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all who answered the call in the days that followed. As members of the fire service, we will always remember the 343 firefighters who never returned home.

Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

🇺🇸 We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and everyone in our community affected by this loss. During times like these, we are reminded of the strength of a community that comes together to support one another.

May comfort, peace and strength surround all those who are grieving. Our hearts are with you.

“Today is a difficult day for Chambers County. Constable John Mulryan passed away this morning after a long battle with cancer.

Those of us who were fortunate enough to know John knew just how special he was. He was a pillar of this community and a gentle giant who was loved by so many. To me, and to so many of us at the Sheriff’s Office, he was more than a fellow peace officer, he was a true servant. We will always remember his kind heart and the love he had for his community.

To his family and friends, our hearts are with you. We are deeply sorry for your loss, and we thank you for the sacrifices you made so that John could spend so much of his life serving others. Thank you for sharing him with us and for standing beside him while he continuously helped everyone in this community. We will never forget the man he was, and we will forever be proud to call him our friend.

‘Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.’ - Matthew 5:9

— Sheriff Brian Hawthorne”

🎗️ September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Every day, more than 1,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer.

As first responders, we know what it means to face difficult situations with courage. But some of the bravest fighters we’ll ever know are children battling cancer.

This month, we stand with them, their families, and everyone fighting alongside them.

💛 Go Gold. No child fights alone.
First responders stand with our smallest heroes. 🎗️

🎗️ Heroes Come in All Sizes 🎗️

Every day, firefighters answer the call to help others—but during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we recognize some of the toughest fighters of all: children battling cancer. 💛

Their courage, strength, and determination remind us what being a fighter truly means.

Throughout September, Chambers County ESD # 1 and the Winnie-Stowell Volunteer Fire Department proudly goes GOLD to stand with these young warriors, their families, and the loved ones who never stop fighting beside them.

To every child facing cancer: you have an entire community of first responders standing behind you. 🚒💛
