We have been busy the past two days with fire prevention presentations at some of our local elementary schools. Our Staff and Volunteers have visited with and educated students at Geiger Elementary, The Magnet School, McCrory Liston and Richard Winn. Later this month, we are scheduled to visit Fairfield Elementary. Last week we delivered fire prevention materials to every elementary school that is in our coverage area for Pre K thru 3rd grade. These materials are provided by the National Fire Safety Council and funded by donations from mailers, that are sent out on our behalf each year. We would like to thank the following donors that made the materials possible this year: A1 SAVE-N-GO, Blackjack Baptist Church, Carolina Adventure World, First Citizens, Greater Faith Temple Church, Lake Wateree Presbyterian Church, Mid County Water Company, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Porter Gas Service, Whispering Willows Bed and Breakfast, Winnsboro Smiles, & Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Fairfield County Fire Service has been awarded $5,000 for smoke alarms from Fairfield Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round-Up Program. This funding will allow us to continue to purchase smoke alarms for the citizens of Fairfield County. Having working smoke alarms in your home gives you early warning to exit the home, should a fire occur. If you would like to sign up for a free home safety visit and smoke alarm install please call our office at 803-712-1070 or click on the following link: https://www.fairfieldsc.com/departments/fire-service/smoke-alarm-request Shown is Bruce Bacon, CEO Fairfield Electric Cooperative and Fire Chief Jamie Webb

On behalf of every Firefighter in Fairfield County:
As this week comes to a close, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped us through this difficult event.

From the first responders who traveled from across South Carolina and came to our aid without hesitation, to the citizens and local businesses who generously donated supplies and resources to support the personnel on the scene—we are incredibly grateful.

Words cannot fully express our appreciation for each and every person who contributed in any way. Your generosity, compassion, and unwavering support made a meaningful difference during an incredibly challenging time.

Thank you for standing with us, supporting our personnel, and helping our community through this event. We are truly grateful.

🚨 BOAT COLLISION RESPONSE 🚨

Earlier this evening, Kershaw County Fire Service responded to assist Fairfield County Fire Service with a boat collision in the Wateree Creek area of Lake Wateree.

As a result of the incident, one boat sank and multiple patients were transported by KCFS marine units and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) officers to awaiting EMS personnel for evaluation and treatment.

SCDNR is currently investigating the incident.

We appreciate the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies who worked together to ensure a rapid and effective response.

As a reminder, always wear a life jacket, maintain a proper lookout, and operate your vessel safely while enjoying our waterways.

Last week during a ceremony at the 2026 Fire Rescue Conference Fairfield County Fire Service officially received its 2025 Fire Safe South Carolina Designation. This year 241 fire departments across South Carolina received this designation. Out of those 241 only 45 departments have received it all 7 years that it has been awarded, and we are proud to say that Fairfield Fire is one of those 45. This means a great deal to us because it shows our dedication and commitment to fire prevention and education efforts for the citizens that we serve. As a bonus, one of our new Tankers was on display on the exhibit hall floor, so we snapped a pic of our plaque with it.

Last week during 2026 South Carlina State Firefighters Association Fire Rescue Conference two of Fairfield's own were inducted into the SCSFA Hall of Fame. Those who receive this honor have left a clear mark on the states fire service and are recognizable by peers at the state or regional level for their commitment and contributes. Show left to right: Mike Hollis who is still still an active volunteer with over 50 years of service and and Jimmy Walters who served for over 40 years before his retirement. Congratulations and thank you both for your contributions to Fairfield County and beyond.
