The Grieving Needs Foundation G.N.F The Grieving Needs Foundation provides help to those who are experiencing grief. Grief can come from a loss of clothing, food, money, or shelter.

Grieving Needs Foundation (G.N.F)
The Grieving Needs Foundation was founded by Shamieka Bernice Johnson Sims in honor of her oldest sister Brenda Lee Johnson. After Brenda’s unexpected death in January 2013 Shamieka searched for a way to share her memory with others and what better way than to provide help to those in need. This birthed G.N.F which provides help to families who are experiencing grief in one form or another. Those who are grieving often just need to know someone cares. Since the foundation started in October 2013 they have provided food and clothing to families in Fairfield County and surrounding areas. The foundation is currently a 501c3 and is registered with the South Carolina as a nonprofit.

Today is a special day for me and The Grieving Needs Foundation.

When Grief Doesn't Follow Directions is officially being introduced as a resource for people navigating loss, change, and all the emotions that come with them.

This book grew out of years of conversations, experiences, and the work we've done through GNF. My hope is that it helps someone find words for what they've been feeling and reminds them that grief doesn't come with a timetable.

The model is a map, not a clock.

Today, October 14, we're celebrating the release of this resource, and I'm grateful to finally share it with you.

You can find the book on Amazon here:

We thank each of you for working with us around our schedule between doctors appointments and meetings October will look a little sparse for the rest of the month and we ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers as this year wraps up.

πŸŽ„πŸ’™ THE 2026 GIVING TREE IS OFFICIALLY OPEN! πŸ’™πŸŽ„
The Grieving Needs Foundation's 11th Annual Giving Tree is here, and once again we're asking our community to help us make Christmas a little brighter for individuals and families this holiday season.
Over the past few days, I've been working behind the scenes getting wish lists organized, protecting the privacy of the people we're serving, and making sure we have a system that allows us to keep track of every adoption and every gift.
And now we're ready. ❀️
Beginning TODAY, I'll be sharing our Giving Tree adoption cards. Each card has a GNF number and the information you need to shop for that individual or family.
🎁 HOW TO ADOPT:
See someone you would like to bless? You are welcome to comment "I want to adopt!" on their post, but your adoption is not secured through the comment.
πŸ“± You MUST text 803-718-5341 with:
β€’ Your name
β€’ The GNF number you would like to adopt
We will respond and confirm that the individual/family is still available. Please do not begin shopping until you receive confirmation from us.
This is important because several people may see the same post at the same time, and we don't want someone overlooked while another person receives multiple full adoptions.
πŸ›οΈ Don't want to adopt an entire person or family? That's okay! You can purchase individual items from our Giving Tree wish lists or make a donation and allow GNF to shop for remaining needs.
πŸ“… ALL GIFTS ARE DUE DECEMBER 5, 2026.
Over the coming days, I will continue sharing Giving Tree cards until everyone has been introduced. Some of these are children. Some are adults. Some are seniors. Some are veterans. But every card represents a real person we're hoping our community will wrap in a little extra love this Christmas.
You don't have to do everything. Just choose somebody. Choose an item. Give what you can. Share a post. Help us make sure nobody on this tree is forgotten.

Over the last few weeks, we have found ourselves having more conversations about grief than usual.
Different people. Different losses. Different circumstances. But one thing continues to be true: grief does not follow a schedule, and it certainly doesn't follow directions. For a while now, GNF has been working on something through that puts into words much of what we have learned from walking alongside grieving people over the years. We think now is the right time to share it. October 14. More soon!

My (Shamieka) apologies but we are closed today because I am very sick and has been all weekend with a sinus infection we will be open again soon.
