As of 11:50 AM the Eversource outage map is showing 75 customer outages in town. I am continuing to work with the liaison from Eversource to get power restored to the remaining outages in town. I know this has been a long duration outage for some residents and I appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work to restore power to everyone

As of 4 PM 9/27/26 both the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and the DEMHS Region 5 office which covers Litchfield County have closed down and returned to a normal monitoring posture. The Wi******er EOC is also closing down and returning to a normal monitoring posture. The Eversource outage map is still showing 140 customers without power in the Town of Wi******er. I have been working with my liaison from Eversource throughout the day to get crews to continue their restoration efforts to get power restored to all of our residents. I will be continuing to work with Eversource tonight, and tomorrow to ensure all of our residents have power restored to them. The current weather forecast is calling for addition rain overnight into Monday. However, the strong winds are continuing to subside allowing for Eversource crews to continue to work on restoration efforts. Thank you to all of our residents for your patience and understanding during this weather event. Special thanks to all of our Police, Fire, EMS, first responders and our DPW staff for your tireless work and efforts to respond to and protect our community during this weather event.

With this weekend's hybrid Nor'easter hitting our state, the Connecticut State Police will be out assisting citizens to ensure everyone remains safe if you have to travel- but we can't do it alone- we need your help.

-If you have to travel, slow down and allow for extra time to arrive at your destination safely.
-Avoid driving through standing water: turn around, don't drown.
-Treat all downed power lines as live ones; call 911 to report.
-Only share storm information and messages from trusted sources.

If you do need to travel this weekend, be sure to check https://ctroads.org/ before heading out to review road closures that the Department of Transportation will be updating in real time.

Power outages across the state will be updated through our partners at Eversource and UI and can be reported here: https://outagemap.eversource.com/external/default.html

The Eversource outage map for our area shows approx.
1, 195 customers without power in the Town of Wi******er. However, the numbers may include customers that are on circuits that cross into our neighboring towns.

Wi******er Emergency Management Office is continuing to monitor the situation, and we are in touch with a liaison from Eversource. We will send out updates as they become available to us.

We have just been advised that part of the outage may relate to issues at an Eversource Substation in the Campville section of Harwinton. In addition there is a tree down on a line near a trail off Pinewoods Road in Torrington.

In the meantime, everyone stay safe and realize that this is probably just the beginning of power outage issues for our area so please be patient with the utility companies as the weather forecast still indicates that this will be a long duration storm that will affect our area through the majority of the weekend.

We hear you. When does the overcrowding end?

There isn’t one reason shelters are in crisis. Vet care costs more. Resources are harder to access. Laws vary. Education is inconsistent. Too many pets are still being born into communities that simply do not have enough homes.

We wish Wings of Rescue didn’t need to exist.

But this weekend, we have back-to-back large-scale flights because pets are out of time.

So we do what we do best: fly pets so they don’t die.

These flights happen because you believe a ZIP code should not determine whether a pet lives or dies.

Support the flights. www.wingsofrescue.org

And tune in Friday night and Saturday morning as we go LIVE from the tarmac.
