School safety goes beyond the classroom—it’s about building relationships that make a lasting impact.

In 1974, The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office became one of the first agencies in North Carolina to establish a School Resource Division. Today, our School Resource Officers (SROs) serve throughout Winston-Salem/Forsyth County middle and high schools, helping maintain a safe learning environment while building meaningful connections with students and school staff.

From serving as mentors and role models to connecting students with valuable resources, our SROs are committed to making a difference both inside and outside the classroom. We are protecting our schools, investing in our students and building a safer future. And that’s a fact!

Preparation meets purpose.

Our Special Response Team (SRT) detention officers train to handle high-stress situations and maintain safety inside The Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. From conducting floor patrols and managing maximum-security administrative segregation to ensuring secure movement throughout the facility, every skill sharpened and every scenario practiced helps our team stay ready to meet the demands of the job and maintain a safe, secure environment.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to remind our community that abuse can affect anyone, and no one should have to face it alone. Recognizing the signs, starting conversations, and connecting others with support can make a difference. Together, we can raise awareness and create a safer community.

Lace up your shoes, Mineral Springs!

We’re hitting the ground running! The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with Fleet Feet to launch a Run Club at Mineral Springs Middle School, bringing students together every Wednesday to run, build healthy habits, and strengthen their connection with the community.

Because running is about more than miles — it’s about building friendships, creating community, and crossing the finish line together! Students can also earn attendance incentives, including T-shirts, gift cards, and even running shoes for perfect attendance!

One step at a time, one mile at a time, we’re building a stronger community. Let’s run, Mineral Springs! 💙
