TODAY, I CAST MY VOTE WITH PRIDE, PURPOSE, AND GRATITUDE!

Standing at the ballot box today, I thought about those who came before me—those who marched, sacrificed, and fought so that someone like me could have a voice in our democracy. I don't just vote for myself. I vote to honor their legacy and help shape the future for generations to come.

As an African American man, U.S. Army veteran, and President of the African American Caucus of Forsyth County, I understand that leadership begins with action, not just words.

It was also a pleasure connecting with Forsyth County Commissioner Dan Besse today!

My service didn't end when I took off the uniform. It continues through my commitment to my community and our democracy.

Today, in my role as President of the African American Caucus of Forsyth County, I had the privilege of delivering the closing remarks following Governor Roy Cooper’s address at his Community Leaders and Friends Luncheon in Winston-Salem as he campaigns for the United States Senate.

It was an opportunity to thank Governor Cooper for coming to Forsyth County, engaging directly with our community, and sharing his priorities for North Carolina.

The African American Caucus has an important responsibility to keep our community informed, engaged, and participating in the democratic process. Our voices matter. Our participation matters. And our communities deserve to be heard by those seeking to represent North Carolina in Washington.

I was honored to close today’s gathering by thanking Governor Cooper for the conversation and thanking the community leaders who continue to show up and serve.

Leadership matters. Service matters. And civic participation matters.

Here's a Facebook post you could share on behalf of the Forsyth County African American Caucus:
Happy Juneteenth!
Today, we celebrate Juneteenth—the day that marks the true enforcement of freedom for enslaved African Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
Juneteenth is more than a historical milestone; it is a testament to the resilience, strength, faith, and perseverance of generations who endured unimaginable hardships while never giving up hope for freedom and equality.
As we reflect on the sacrifices of our ancestors, we also honor their legacy by continuing the work of building stronger communities, advancing justice, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that every voice is heard.
The Forsyth County African American Caucus proudly joins communities across the nation in commemorating this important day. May we celebrate our history, embrace our culture, and recommit ourselves to the ongoing pursuit of equity and unity.
Freedom delayed, but never denied.
