PG&E is planning a PSPS this weekend starting tomorrow through Monday. Please see the below media release from PG&E.

Potential Public Safety Power Shutoff Could Impact Small Portions of 17 California Counties Beginning Friday

PG&E’s Operations and Meteorology teams are monitoring a wind event forecasted to bring elevated wildfire risk conditions to portions of Northern and Central California beginning Friday afternoon into Monday.

With a forecast for gusty winds, low humidity and elevated fire danger, PG&E has initiated advanced customer notifications in targeted areas where Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) may be necessary to reduce wildfire risk.

PG&E's top priority is the safety of our customers and communities. The decision to proactively turn off power for safety is not taken lightly. PSPS is one of many layers of wildfire protection which PG&E deploys as a measure of last resort.

Current forecasts indicate that about 12,200 customers in portions of 17 northern counties (Alameda, Butte, Colusa, Fresno, Glenn, Kern, Kings, Lake, Merced, Napa, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Shasta, Solano, Tehama, Yolo) could be affected if a PSPS is implemented.

Weather forecasts call for strong westerly winds with gusts between 30 and 45 mph Saturday with peak winds of 55 mph across portions of the Northern Sierra, followed by north winds Sunday in the Sacramento Valley area. PG&E will continue to monitor weather conditions and communicate updates as forecasts evolve.

Counties

Alameda — 386
Butte — 278
Colusa — 507
Fresno — 314
Glenn — 620
Kern — 295
Kings — 9
Lake — 78
Merced — 133
Napa — 15
San Benito — 3
San Joaquin — 5
San Luis Obispo — 71
Shasta — 6,797
Solano — 284
Tehama — 2,351
Yolo — 84
Customer notifications via text, email and automated phone calls were completed on Thursday, Oct. 8. Customers can look up their address online to find out if their location is being monitored for the potential safety shutoff at pge.com/pspsupdates.

Community Resource Centers

PG&E understands that losing power, especially during periods of high heat, is extremely difficult for customers and is working diligently to provide resources in these communities.

During a PSPS, we open Community Resource Centers (CRC) where community members can access resources including:

A safe location to meet their basic power needs, such as charging medical equipment and electronic devices
Up-to-date information about the PSPS
Water, snacks, blankets, ADA-accessible restrooms and other essential items to reduce hardships for customs

Service animals are welcome at Community Resource Centers. For additional information about service animals, visit: https://www.ada.gov/topics/service-animals/. Information on CRC locations is available online at PG&E’s Outage Center.

❤️ October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month

At Winters Fire Department, we are committed to strengthening our community’s ability to respond when seconds matter. Early CPR and rapid access to an AED can make a lifesaving difference during sudden cardiac arrest.

We are committed to continuing CPR training within our department and expanding our efforts to provide CPR education to the public. One of our goals is to eventually offer community CPR classes, giving our residents the knowledge and confidence to act when a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor needs help.

You don’t have to be a firefighter or medical professional to save a life. Knowing CPR can make you the most important person at the scene.

Come visit us at Public Safety day- 10/17/26 from 3-7 pm
