Congratulations to our Winters FFA Band, Olive School Lane!🫒 These 4 made our small town and school beyond PROUD by making it to the big stage and performing in the semi-finals last night! They made the Top 11, out of over 150 bands, and tonight they play one last show at the National FFA Convention. Thank you to Mrs. Mederos and Mr. Whitworth, our FFA teachers, for their leadership and expertise; we appreciate all of the opportunities they offer our students to hone their talents and skills for the future.

Great Job Cole, Derek, Henry, & Jack! Winters is so proud of you! 🎵🎤🎶

This week Mrs. Aguiar chose Cassandra, as our Student of the Week!

Mrs. Aguiar nominated this student because, "Cassandra is a second-year Early Childhood Education student who consistently takes initiative and completes her work with thought and care. She has been a wonderful asset to the kindergarten classroom where she works at Waggoner Elementary School. Her dedication and willingness to help make her a valued member of her Kindergarten class."

Cassandra is another great example of how our CTE programs are providing great opportunities for our students to gain valuable skills in the workplace. Keep it up Cassandra!

Last Friday, The College and Career Fair gave students a chance to explore a wide range of possibilities for life after high school. With more than 70 tables representing over 24 College and Career Sections, students met with potential employers and representatives from community colleges, California State Universities, UCs, and private colleges. In addition, many participants were WHS Alum and/or family members of our students and we love to see our community share their career paths with our students! We also want to thank Devan, owner of Scoop Dreams, for being our featured guest speaker and for inspiring our students to follow their own dreams!

This week's Student of the Week is Abbey, who was selected by Ms. Cynthia.

Ms. Cynthia wrote, "Abbey is always ready to work when she comes to the office. Abbey is very kind, friendly, and respectful, and her work ethic in the office is impeccable. Recently, I was in a meeting, and Abbey and her colleague, Ava, were quick to assist as needed. I had about 8 people needing something and the phone was ringing. Abbey learned quickly how to transfer a call and quickly got the line in the office moving. Abbey is a great asset to the office team and consistently demonstrates the critical thinking and collaboration skills our students are learning within our Graduate Profile". Keep up the Good Work Abbey!

Good Afternoon,

Winters High School’s Annual College and Career Fair on Fri. Oct. 16th supports our Graduate Profile by providing students with meaningful opportunities to explore a wide range of postsecondary pathways, including colleges and universities, trade and technical schools, military branches, and a variety of career opportunities. We are so thankful for all of this year's participants who are volunteering their time to share their careers and colleges with our students.

🧑‍🏫 Our Mini-Sessions provide students with the opportunity to dive deeper into specific career and educational pathways, helping them gain valuable insight as they begin planning for their futures.

🧑🏽‍🚒 Below is the Golden Day schedule for this year’s College and Career Fair. Please note that there will be no 1st period on this day. This is because some of our students do not have a 1st-period class and we want to ensure that all students have the opportunity to fully participate in Career Day activities.

👮‍♂️ Additionally, all AG classes will be held in the library throughout the event.

We are excited to provide our students with this valuable opportunity to learn, explore, and connect with options for their future!

Recently our Winters Junior Board presented at the IGNITE summit in San Jose about the importance of real student voice in education. Dr. Aubrey Escobar, an educational researcher from CLEAR, attended the session, heard directly from our students, and was inspired by what she saw to write about the work happening in Winters. Here is her article:

The WJUSD Junior Board strives to do more than just simply ask students for feedback; it empowers them to play a meaningful role in shaping their schools and contributing to the development of our Graduate Profile. 🗣️

We are so thankful for our students who volunteer their time on our board! If your student has a concern they would like to share with our board, please email Mrs. Rodriguez @wintersjusd.org.

Our next "Student of the Week" is Robyn, who was nominated by our Music Director, Mr. Williams. His nomination read, "As our WHS Performing Arts president, Robyn tirelessly coordinates students and resources to maximize group collaboration and community engagement. She is also a superb flutist who elevates the entire band's performance level. We are really fortunate to have her at Winters High School!!" You can catch our amazing Winters Musicians at our next Football Game or come to one of our fantastic concerts this school year. Thank you Robyn and Congratulations! 🎼🎶🪈

Our first Student of the Week, for the 2026-2027 school year, was nominated by Mr. Baker, one of our amazing members of the Math and Foreign Language Departments. He wrote, "Violet is very deserving of this recognition. She is hardworking and dedicated. Every day she comes into class with a desire to learn. She somehow manages to stay focused and on task even when distractions are occurring. She makes it easy on me as a teacher." Great Job Violet, you make WHS Proud! 👏
