💛 As the final pieces of our sunflower puzzle come together, we’re reminded that the most beautiful things are often made one small piece at a time. And what better way to welcome a change in seasons than by celebrating the wonderful community that makes our library so special!

To our library patrons, visitors, program participants, neighbors, and the entire Methow Valley community: thank you for being part of our story. Whether you’re stopping by to find your next favorite book, joining a program, sharing a conversation, working on a puzzle, or simply finding a quiet place to work, you help make the library what it is. Every visit, every smile, every shared moment adds another piece to the bigger picture.

As the leaves and pages turn, one thing remains the same: we love our community! Here’s to growing together, one piece at a time. 💛

This year’s Banned Books Week coincides with the American Library Association’s official 150th anniversary. To mark the occasion, ALA has released a list of the 150 most challenged books documented from 1990 -- when ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom began tracking book challenges -- through 2025.

See the full list at ala150.org/150books.

At the American Library Association conference this summer, we spoke with dozens of librarians from across the U.S. about the challenges and triumphs of running a library. Here is what they told us. https://nyti.ms/4zbhzRF

Let books be.

Today kicks off , an annual observation started more than 40 years ago in response to a sudden surge in the number of attempts to censor or remove books in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Sound familiar?

Today, libraries continue to face record numbers of challenges to the books on their shelves. And contrary to common narratives suggesting that concerned parents are driving these challenges, data from ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom suggests otherwise – 92% of these challenges came from pressure groups and government officials in 2025.

For this year's Banned Books Week, we remind our communities that a handful of people running organized censorship campaigns should not be allowed to dictate what the rest of us can read, and that the joy and creativity of reading is not only an act of resistance, but a freedom that must be protected.

📚New Book Tuesday📚

In this week’s new books, self-help is on the shelf!

⭐How in Make a Friend (Agrawal) reveals what modern culture has forgotten: friendship is gloriously inefficient and that's exactly why it matters - friendship isn't something you have; it's something you practice.
⭐In Procrastinators Get Stuff Done (White), the author extends her expertise to tackle procrastination head-on, offering innovative strategies and insights for anyone seeking to conquer the habit and unlock their full potential.
⭐The Forest Year (Tapper) is a moving account of what it means to persist in the face of change and love a place through work, compromise, sacrifice, and humility, inspiring readers to think deeply about where they live and who they are.
