With this latest storm system rolling through, making it glum and dull outside.....keep in mind the Waffle House Storm Index (yes, it is a real, albeit unofficial, thing). Just a little perspective to brighten your day. 😎🥸🤓

10/12/2026

UPDATE: Beginning around 8 am, Business Route 1 from Pump Street in Newcastle to Church Street in Damariscotta will be closed for approximately 30 minutes for a 5K road race.
Participants will be instructed during their safety briefing to move to the left side of the roadway if emergency vehicles require access. As always, we appreciate your patience as we wrap up another successful Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta

10/11/2026

UPDATE: Increased visitor traffic is expected throughout the day, with the largest event being the Regatta from 1100 to 1400. Once again, try to avoid downtown unless you are coming to enjoy the festivities. Heck, why not just come down to enjoy the festivities. Crossing guards will still be there to assist with the flow of pedestrian traffic, so please be kind. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta

10/10/2026

UPDATE: Visitor traffic and pedestrian activity will increase significantly throughout the day.
Crossing guards will be stationed throughout downtown, and pedestrian traffic will be directed to designated crosswalks. Expect delays and PLEASE respect those who are directing traffic.
From approximately 1330 to 1600, roads will be closed between the Post Office on Mills Road in Newcastle and the Baptist Church in Damariscotta for the Pumpkinfest Parade.
During this closure, please avoid traveling through downtown if possible and use the northern portion of Business Route 1 when accessing Lincoln Health Miles Campus.
Thank you again for your patience....and enjoy your Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta

10/09/2026

UPDATE: Barricades are expected to be placed early this morning to restrict on-street parking throughout downtown Damariscotta. They are positioned to allow vehicles to pull safely to the side of the road if emergency vehicles need to pass.

10/08/2026

UPDATE: Just wanted to remind all residents and visitors that the pumpkin deployment will begin around 3 pm today and will continue until around 6 pm. That means there will be many forklifts, volunteers and others working throughout the downtown area to prepare for this weekends festivities. That includes in and around the roadway. PLEASE be extra careful and respect those that are working hard to bring this festival to life. Thanks.

Good Morning

Here is the latest update from our colleagues at the National Weather Service regarding the expected storm:

A soaking rainfall event is becoming more likely over the weekend.

North to northeast winds developing Friday and persisting through the weekend, with coastal gusts around 40 mph possible. Limited power outages could occur.

Dangerous surf and a high risk of rip currents from Friday through the weekend. A High Surf Advisory has been issued.

Minor coastal flooding and splash-over possible around high tides beginning Friday night due to persistent northeast winds pushing water toward the coast.

Conditions remain dry through early Friday with seasonably cool temperatures before impacts increase.

Takeaway: The highest concerns are coastal impacts, dangerous surf, minor coastal flooding, gusty winds with scattered outage potential, and a beneficial but potentially significant rainfall event during the weekend.

Please stay tuned for further updates and information as the storm progresses.
