Volunteer Firefighter Spotlight: Sage Cote

This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Sage Cote!
Sage has been a dedicated member of Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department Company 2 for 7 years. He began his service to the community in EMS and wanted to continue growing his role in the fire service. Since joining, Sage has earned his Firefighter I, Cold Water Rescue, Aggressive Fireground Tactics, along with several other certifications.
Sage is also a familiar face at our company parades throughout the state. He takes great pride in our apparatus and enjoys representing Company 2 and the department at these events.
And when Christmas parade season rolls around, Sage takes on one of his favorite roles — The Grinch! He brings plenty of mayhem, mischief, and laughs to the parade route, entertaining both kids and adults along the way.
When asked what keeps him coming back, Sage says it’s the camaraderie, helping people during some of their toughest moments, and giving back to the community. Those are the things that make being a volunteer firefighter so rewarding.
Sage has a goal of becoming a career firefighter, and he’s working hard to make that dream a reality.
Thank you, Sage, for your 7 years of commitment, dedication, and service to Wolcott Company 2 and our community. We’re proud to have you as part of the team!

Members of Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department Company 2 would like to share our thoughts and prayers with all those affected by the events of September 11, 2001.
We remember all the innocent lives lost, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, the survivors, and the families and communities forever changed by that tragic day.
The courage, sacrifice, and selflessness shown that day will never be forgotten.

Volunteer Firefighter Spotlight: Landon Dionne
This month, we are proud to shine the spotlight on Landon Dionne!
Landon is a dedicated member of Wolcott Company 2 with three years of service under his belt. Following in the footsteps of his father—a former member of the department—Landon joined after seeing firsthand the meaningful impact a firefighter can have on their community.
Since joining, Landon has earned his Firefighter 1 certification and recently joined the Region 5 Dive Team, a specialized group of firefighters trained to assist the public during water-safety emergencies.
For anyone considering joining the department, Landon offers this perspective: volunteering requires a real sense of purpose and a strong level of commitment. But once you join, the rewards are endless. "It’s a lot of fun being at the firehouse with people who share your passion," Landon says. "And of course, there’s always that rush of excitement when you’re on the truck with the lights and sirens on, heading out to a call!"
Looking ahead, Landon is working hard toward his ultimate goal of becoming a career firefighter.
Thank you, Landon, for your hard work, commitment, and service to Wolcott Company 2 and our community!

Custom Concrete Solutions Appreciation

We want to give a special thank-you to Custom Concrete Solutions CT for the incredible work they completed in our firehouse. The floors in the oldest portion had seen more than 80 years of use and were badly in need of repair.

Their team restored the surfaces, repaired the cracks, leveled the floors, and applied a durable coating that completely changed the space. We couldn’t be happier with the results and highly recommend their professionalism and craftsmanship!

Volunteer Firefighter Spotlight: Jeff Cookson
This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Jeff Cookson!
This month, Jeff earns his Life Membership with the department, a remarkable accomplishment that represents 15 years of dedicated service and commitment to our community.
Jeff is a proud United States Marine and has continued his commitment to serving others through the fire service. He has completed Firefighter I and II, as well as his Instructor I certification.
Jeff has also been a valued member of the Connecticut Statewide Honor Guard Team, where he has played a vital role in representing our department and honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. Jeff has proudly served as a Captain within that agency for the past nine years.
You can often find Jeff representing our department at parades, car shows, and community events throughout Connecticut. He especially enjoys seeing the excitement on the faces of the kids at these events—and he’s brought home plenty of trophies for our department display cases along the way!
Jeff recently joined the Region 5 Dive Team, a dedicated group of firefighters who assist the public during water-safety emergencies. His commitment to helping others is nothing new. Jeff has been volunteering in some capacity since he was a teenager, always looking for ways to give back to his community.
Jeff has also faced a very difficult personal battle as a cancer survivor. Through that challenge, he has continued to demonstrate the same strength, determination, and commitment that he brings to the firehouse. He doesn’t seek recognition—he simply continues to show up, serve, and do whatever he can to support his firefighting family.
Jeff, congratulations on earning your Life Membership and thank you for 15 years of dedicated service! Your commitment to our department, your fellow firefighters, and the community is truly appreciated.
