Officer Aaron W**d
Wolfeboro Police Department
Aaron,
Let this letter serve to commend you on your actions taken on August 12, 2026, while on duty for the Town of Wolfeboro.
Just prior to 4pm, information was received regarding a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed toward Huggins Hospital due to an occupant experiencing a medical emergency involving a severe laceration with life-threatening blood loss. You located the vehicle and when it stopped on Center Street, you immediately exited your cruiser, made contact with the patient, and utilized your department-issued tourniquet to control the bleeding. You continued providing assistance until fire/rescue and medical personnel arrived on scene and assumed patient care. The individual was subsequently transported to Huggins Hospital for further medical treatment.
Your actions demonstrate the importance of the training provided to our officers and, equally important, an officer’s ability to remain prepared and effectively apply that training when confronted with an emergency. You quickly recognized the seriousness of the situation, utilized the lifesaving equipment available to you, and provided immediate medical intervention until additional emergency medical resources arrived.
While assisting those in need is an important part of our responsibilities as police officers, I believe your actions in this incident went above and beyond what is expected of our police officers. Your willingness to intervene immediately and properly use a tourniquet to control significant bleeding reflects positively on you and the Wolfeboro Police Department.
Therefore, I am formally recognizing you for your actions and that this Letter of Recognition be placed in your personnel file documenting your performance during this incident.
Your actions are an excellent example of why we train, why officers carry lifesaving medical equipment, and the positive impact an officer can have when that training and equipment are needed most.
Sincerely and with gratitude,
Christopher Warn, Chief of Police
Wolfeboro Police Department
