Woodbridge Supervisor Jeanie LaCroix Newsletter Look out your window!
Before I talk about the week, I have a small favor to ask…the next time you're driving down Route 1, please look out your window. I’ll explain why in a bit!
On Saturday, we held our monthly Route 1 Cleanup, and this time we teamed up with the Woodbridge Rotary AND Keep Prince William Beautiful!
At 9:00am we got our group together in the McDonalds parking lot and hit the sidewalks and crosswalks along Route 1. By the end of the morning, we had filled SIX huge bags of trash. You wouldn’t believe the number of cigarette butts we picked up.
I am so appreciative of every single volunteer who gave up their Saturday morning to come out and pick up trash, to make our community a little cleaner. That includes our friends at Woodbridge Rotary, who you can see in their Rotary reflective vests.

You make Woodbridge better, and I'm so grateful for you!!! Afterwards I took our volunteers out for lunch at the McDonalds we started at. One person on my team plays McDonalds Monopoly and had a field day!!
We usually have a cleanup every month, so if you missed this one, I'd love for you to join us at the next one.
Making Route 1 cleaner and more beautiful has been one of my top priorities since day one, and I've been working on it hard. You've read about a lot of it here: cleanups, new speed monitors, re-lit street lamps, median repairs, new plantings, and more. But I could not do it alone!!!
Thank you to our County staff, especially Khattab Shammout and Cathy Holtzlander from Public Works (you may remember our Route 1 ride-along back in April!), as well as Dick Burke and Bobby Shetley from VDOT. They have worked with me every step of the way to clean up and beautify Route 1, and I am so grateful for everything they do.
And thank you to our great partners at Keep Prince William Beautiful, the Woodbridge Rotary, and every volunteer who comes out once a month to pick up trash. This is your work too!
So… next time you drive down Route 1, take a look around. Things are slowly but steadily starting to look so much better. It’s not finished (can it ever be?), but we're getting there, and I'm just getting started!!
Finally, I'd also love to see you at the next WPCCA meeting on Monday, October 26!
The Woodbridge Potomac Communities Civic Association is part of the beating heart of Woodbridge, and their meeting this month is a big one:
The Prince William Conservation Alliance will be presenting their "3Rs" vision for the future of Prince William County: Reimagine, Reinvest, and Redevelop.
You may remember I met with PWCA's Executive Director, Ashley Studholme, and Martin Jeter last month about it! They really care about Prince William County’s future and how we can grow smarter by protecting our forests and water, keeping our rural lands rural, and breathing new life into our existing communities.
I'll be there too, with an update on the projects and priorities I've been working on for Woodbridge, and I'll take any questions you have, too. RSVP and bring a neighbor!
There’s even more coming up in Woodbridge, so take a look at the list of events down below, and the pet of the week if you’re looking for a new furry friend. :) Thank you for reading! We’re building a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful Woodbridge, together!
Warmly,
Jeannie LaCroix
