🚨 WARNING: KNOW WHAT YOU’RE BUYING AND SELLING

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is seeing an increase in products being labeled as “Cat’s Claw” that, in reality, contain MGM-15, a compound made from Kratom.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Cat’s Claw is a South American vine that is legal to purchase and consume in Tennessee.

• Kratom, in any form, is illegal in Tennessee and has been associated with multiple deadly overdoses.

• Products can be mislabeled, making it difficult for consumers and retailers to know exactly what they are purchasing and consuming.

Store owners: Know what you are selling. Verify the products you stock and take mislabeled products seriously.

Consumers: Know what you are buying. Don’t assume a product is safe or legal simply because of the name on the package.

⚠️ Stay informed. Stay vigilant. Your safety is on the line.

If you or a loved one needs help with a substance use issue, please call or text the TN REDLINE: 800-889-9789.

⚠️ Just because a substance is sold over the counter doesn’t mean it’s safe.

So-called “gas station drugs” can be packaged like ordinary supplements, gummies, shots, pills, or powders, but products containing substances such as tianeptine, concentrated 7-OH, and kratom-derived compounds can carry serious risks.

Repeated use may lead to tolerance, dependence, cravings, and withdrawal. In Tennessee, awareness is especially important: tianeptine has been a Schedule II controlled substance since 2022, and the possession, manufacture, and sale of kratom have been prohibited since July 1, 2026.

Our latest article explores what individuals and families should know about gas station drugs, including:

• What tianeptine, 7-OH, and kratom are
• Why concentrated products can be risky
• Signs of dependence and withdrawal
• Tennessee’s current laws surrounding these substances
• When professional detox or addiction treatment may be appropriate

💚 Availability doesn’t equal safety. Awareness can help you make more informed decisions about your health.
