Favorite of the Week: Reptiles at Oakdale Library!🐍

We had a great turnout for "Reptiles Around the World." Kids and adults got up close with fascinating reptiles, learned about these amazing animals, and even had the chance to touch and hold some of them.

Can you guess what these reptiles are and where in the world they come from? Share your guesses in the comments!

See what teens are reviewing at Wildwood Library in Mahtomedi! From books to movies and games, teens are sharing their honest opinions.

Here are some of our favorite reviews, including this one-star review of "Pride and Prejudice":
⭐ “I didn't like it. It is way too lovey dovey. No real point.”

And this four-star review of "Booked":
⭐⭐⭐⭐ “It's about a soccer kid whose life is separating but he never gave up.”

It's TeenTober, a celebration of teens at our libraries throughout October. There's still time to participate before it ends on October 31!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our author event with Molly M. Hammond! It was a special day at Valley Library in Lakeland!

For local author Molly Hammond, this was her first author event and a chance to share her writing journey and connect with readers. She talked about dreaming of seeing her book on the shelves of her local library and navigating the many rejections that came with pursuing traditional publishing.

Her advice for aspiring writers? Keep reading, keep writing, and don't be afraid to start.

And one of the best parts of the day? Hearing from readers who shared excitement about her books! High school student James shared how Molly’s world-building and characters had touched him, while Marsha couldn’t stop raving about "Daughter of Starlight" and said she couldn’t wait to read the second book, "Queen of Starlight."

And when someone asked whether Steven Spielberg had contacted her about a movie adaptation, Molly had the perfect answer. 😊

🍂 Favorite of the Week: A sunset to remember! Nature Night at Wildwood Elementary (Mahtomedi Community Education) ended with a spectacular sunset over the hill. It was a beautiful fall evening — perfect for creating a gratitude tree and following the story stroll up and down the hill.

Sometimes, the best moments are the ones that remind us to slow down and appreciate the world around us. 🌅

We heard great conversations between teens and working professionals yesterday at Teen Career Conversations. Local professionals shared what they’ve learned, answered questions, and encouraged teens to stay curious about their future.

For panelist Adil, a software engineer at Intuit, coming back to the library made the event especially meaningful: “I grew up coming to this library since I was 13 years old. There wasn't this kind of a program growing up. I think it's a great idea. And it was a good way for me to give back to my community.”
