TONIGHT! Come on down to AlWood for our fall concert at 7! The bands and choirs have been working diligently and we are excited to show you our progress!

Students will be there by 6:30, and if you’d like to be involved, the performing arts boosters are having a meeting in the cafeteria at 6:15! We hope to see you here!!

TOMORROW, please support the AlWood bands and choirs in their first concert of the school year! We start at 7 (students will be there by 6:30) and we have a wide array of music! Also, please feel free to stop by the cafeteria tomorrow at 6:15 for our first boosters meeting! We’re always welcoming new faces and are excited for new fundraising ideas!

Please join us for a great night of music!! The Middle High School and High School Choirs and Bands will be performing their Fall Concert Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in the high school gymnasium! There will be a Music Boosters informational meeting at 6:15 before the concert in the cafeteria! Anyone interested in learning more about the Music Boosters is encouraged to attend! There will be a music booster meeting at 6:15 on October 20th in the AlWood Middle/High School Cafeteria. New members are encouraged to attend! This is a great opportunity to work alongside fellow parents and community members to achieve and establish the goals for our program. Not only that, but it will be a great time to meet fellow music supporters before the concert that starts at 7PM that day!

Hi everyone,

So, a special thing happened to me today, in which I received the Ace of the Month. It was voted on by the students, and the compliments that were given genuinely warmed my heart! Since I’ve been at AlWood, I have been reminded on what it means to be in a rural music program and all of the joys that come with being in a rural environment. From my doctoral studies, I am reminded of Gilles Deleuze, who notes:

“To affirm is not to bear, carry, or harness oneself to that which exists, but on the contrary to unburden, unharness, and set free that which lives.”

The arts are alive and well at AlWood, and its through such simple affirmations like the students nominating me to be Ace of the Month that inspires me to do my best for the students, the parents, and the community!
