🎃 HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIP #5: STICK TOGETHER! 👻

Trick-or-treating is more fun with friends and family! With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, celebrations may continue later into the evening. Make a plan to keep everyone safe while enjoying the festivities.

👫 Use the buddy system and stay with your group.
📍 Stick to familiar, well-lit areas.
📱 Keep your phone charged and let a trusted adult know where you're going.
🕒 Set a route and a check-in time before heading out.

Parents, talk with your kids about what to do if they get separated and choose a safe meeting spot ahead of time.

Look out for one another, Woodland, and help make this Halloween a treat for everyone! 🧡

🎁 🐾 Give a Gift That Gives Back to Our K9s 🐾 🎁

As the holiday season approaches, consider supporting the hardworking K9s who help keep our communities safe!

Founded in 2005, the Foothills K9 Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the training, safety, and health of law enforcement K9s. The Association supports K9s throughout their careers and into retirement by helping fund protective equipment, specialized training, replacement K9s, veterinary care for retired K9s, and end-of-life expenses.

Woodland Police Department is highlighting a special K9 fundraiser featuring clothing and plush merchandise. Proceeds benefit Ricky, Bruno, and Loki, helping support the K9s who serve our community.

Check out the photographs for merchandise, pricing, and contact information.

Thank you for supporting our K9 partners and the people who care for them!

🇺🇸 HAPPY NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY! 🚔🚒📞

Today, October 28, we recognize and thank the men and women who answer the call when our communities need them most.

From the dispatchers who are the calm voice on the other end of the line, to the police officers who protect and serve, and the firefighters who respond when seconds matter, first responders make a difference every single day.

The Woodland Police Department is proud to stand alongside our partners at the Woodland Fire Department and Yolo Emergency Communications Agency (YECA) in serving our community.

To every first responder, thank you for your dedication, sacrifice, compassion, and commitment to keeping our community safe. Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for all that you do.

❤️💙 Today, and every day, we thank you for answering the call.

🎃 HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIP #4: COSTUMES SHOULD BE SAFE! 👻

The perfect Halloween costume should be fun, creative, and safe! Before heading out to trick-or-treat, take a moment to make sure your little monsters are ready for a safe night.

🎭 Make sure masks don't block vision.
👟 Choose shoes that fit securely and are easy to walk in.
🧛 Keep costumes short enough to avoid tripping.
⚔️ Choose soft, flexible props instead of sharp objects.
✨ Add reflective elements to help your trick-or-treaters stand out after dark.

Parents, a quick costume check at the door can help prevent trips, falls, and other Halloween mishaps!

Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy the Halloween festivities, Woodland! 🎃

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 27, 2026

Woodland Police Department Statement on Planned Demonstration

The Woodland Police Department is aware of a demonstration planned for today at the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office and courthouse in response to the October 20 collision involving a federal vehicle and a pedestrian near Clover and College streets.

We recognize and respect the right of individuals to gather peacefully and express their concerns. Woodland Police officers will maintain a presence in the area to support public safety and respond to any needs that may arise. We are coordinating with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, which is responsible for courthouse security.

“I understand that many people in our community are upset about what happened last week and want answers,” said Police Chief Ryan Kinnan. “People have every right to express their concerns and make their voices heard. Our responsibility is to protect those rights while maintaining a safe environment for everyone. We also recognize the importance of a thorough and impartial investigation. Our focus is on establishing the facts, and we remain committed to sharing information as the investigative process permits.”

Upon completion, the investigation will be forwarded to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office for independent review and consideration of any potential criminal violations.

Drivers should anticipate traffic delays along the Downtown Main Street corridor beginning around 4:00 PM.

We encourage everyone attending the demonstration to remain peaceful and respectful of others. Our officers will be there to support public safety, protect the rights of those participating, and address any conduct that threatens the safety of others.

For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 530-666-2411.

🎃 HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIP #3: CHECK TREATS FIRST! 🍬

The candy haul is one of the best parts of Halloween, but before the treats are eaten, take a few minutes to check them out!

🍬 Have an adult inspect all candy and treats before eating.
🚫 Avoid anything opened, damaged, or with unusual packaging.
🥜 Check labels for potential allergens.
👶 Keep choking hazards away from young children.

Parents, make the candy check part of the Halloween tradition. If something looks questionable, throw it out!

A little extra caution helps keep Halloween sweet and safe for everyone. 👻

🎃 **HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIP #2: CROSS WITH CARE!** 🚸

More trick-or-treaters on the streets means everyone needs to stay alert, especially when crossing roads after dark!

🚶 Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible.
👀 Look left, right, then left again before crossing.
📱 Put phones away and pay attention to traffic.
🚗 Drivers, slow down and watch for children who may unexpectedly enter the roadway.

Parents, stay close to your little ghouls and goblins at every crossing, and make sure everyone gets to the next stop safely!

Let's look out for each other this Halloween, Woodland! 👻
