“After a lot of time and love, I gained his trust, and he opened his heart to me.”
That’s how Madi Maruna describes her bond with Intro, and it’s a beautiful place to begin this Donor Spotlight. Madi is a generous OHO supporter, community leader, and former board member who devoted many years to our organization.
At home, she shares her life with two very beloved dogs. Intro, an 8-year-old pit bull, had a difficult start and spent more than 16 months with a foster family before Madi adopted him from the Cleveland APL. Earning his trust took patience. Now, he’s her shadow, her couch-cuddling companion, and the dog who makes her laugh every day simply by being himself.
Then there’s Voltaire, her 16-month-old Boxer, who bounces like a rabbit, snuggles like a kidney bean, and brings the party wherever he goes. He’s the first dog Madi has raised from puppyhood, and he’s teaching her plenty about patience, too! Different personalities, different beginnings, both deeply loved.
That’s the kind of companionship your support helps us protect for pets and families in our community. Thank you, Madi, for your generosity and for sharing these two wonderful boys with us.
What has your pet taught you about love—or patience?
