The United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties started as the Wooster Community Chest from 1940 to 1957. In 1957, the Community Chest was replaced by the Wooster United Fund, governed by an 18-member Board of Trustees elected from the general public. In 1974, the Wooster United Fund changed its name to United Way of Wooster, Inc. to better align itself with the national movement of local United Ways. In 2002, United Way of Wooster changed its name to United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties in an effort to better identify the communities served by the agency.

🎄❤️ Help Us Share Hope This Holiday Season ❤️🎄

Do you offer a holiday meal, toy program, clothing assistance, food distribution, volunteer opportunity, free family event, or other resource that could help local families this season?

United Way of Wayne & Holmes Counties is compiling our 2026 Holiday Resource Guide, and we want to make sure families know about the support available throughout our communities.

Our first edition will be released this Friday, with updates added throughout the holiday season as new information is received. We also encourage organizations with ongoing, year-round services to participate. While needs exist all year, the holidays can be an especially difficult time for many families, seniors, and individuals.

If your organization has a program, service, event, volunteer opportunity, or donation need to share, please submit it today:

Time, money, kindness, energy, simply showing up… it ALL counts! ❤️

Generosity looks different for everyone, and every little bit makes a difference. Thank you, Wayne & Holmes Counties, for showing up for one another in so many ways. We’re so lucky to be part of a community that cares!

This morning, we had the opportunity to connect with Northwestern Middle School staff and share more about United Way Wayne & Holmes Counties, 211, and the many resources available to support individuals and families in our community. ❤️

And what better place to have that conversation than the library, surrounded by messages of positivity, encouragement, and literacy! 📚❤️

We’re grateful for the opportunity to help educators learn more about the resources available to support their students and families.

200 bags packed in less than 30 minutes! 🙌 HUGE thanks to Dawn Martin and all our volunteers from West Holmes Local Schools and The Commercial & Savings Bank for helping make it happen!

These bags provide food for West Holmes students in elementary, middle school and high school to take home for weekends and school breaks when school meals aren’t available. The photo shows an example of what our high school students will bring home tomorrow!
