Wooster Fire Department The Wooster Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the residents

08/17/2026

Between 2:08PM and 4:38PM this afternoon the Wooster Fire Department was dispatched to eight weather-related calls for service. These included trees down in a roadway, power lines down in a roadway, or a combination of both.

Ten of your Wooster volunteer firefighters responded to these calls and were often operating on three to four different scenes simultaneously. By 5:30PM all scenes had been cleared and all Wooster units had returned to service. We are proud of our volunteers for their dedication and resilience.

We would like to thank the Faulkner County Road Department and Entergy for their assistance on some of these calls.

:::UPDATE:::

The trees at 78 Union Road have been cleared and the road is reopened there.

:::ORIGINAL POST:::

There are two parts of Union Road that are impassable by vehicle due to trees and or power lines down.

The first is around 78 Union Road and consists of two large trees across the road. There are no power lines down at this location.

The second is at 112 Union Road and consists of large limbs across the road entangled in power lines.

Traffic is unable to enter or leave the area between these two addresses. Please plan accordingly if you live in or travel through this area. We are coordinating with the Greenbrier Public Schools on how this will affect their bus routes.

Wednesday August 12th will be the first day back to school for the Greenbrier School District which includes Wooster Elementary. With this, comes an influx of traffic throughout the area in the mornings and afternoons. Please modify your daily commute accordingly to allow for extra time during these peak travel hours.

In Wooster, Highway 285N between Church Circle and McMillen Road is a school zone with a posted 25 MPH speed limit during school hours. There is also no cell phone use allowed in this area. Please slow down and watch for children. Please don’t drive distracted.

Please remember that you must stop for busses when their stop sign is extended and lights are flashing. This applies to both directions of travel since children may be crossing the road or highway at these locations.

For families of students attending Wooster Elementary, please be sure to follow the school’s procedure for student drop-off and pick-up. This procedure is designed to ensure the safety of all students as they are arriving or leaving campus. The procedure should have been covered during your student’s class orientation. If you are not familiar with this then please contact the school to receive this important safety information.

Let’s all work together to keep our children safe. Thank you.

Please keep the Johnson family and the members of the Conway Fire Department in your prayers as they mourn the loss of one of their own.

It is with a heavy heart that Conway Fire Department announces the loss of Firefighter Engineer Derek Johnson.

Derek faithfully served the citizens of Conway with honor, dedication, and compassion. Throughout his time with the department, he exemplified the value of service above self and made a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

During this incredibly difficult time, we ask our community to keep Derek's family, the Conway Fire Department, and all those affected in your thoughts and prayers. We also respectfully ask that the family's privacy be honored as they grieve this tremendous loss.

We are grateful for Derek's service to our community and will remember him for his commitment, his sacrifice, and the difference he made in the lives of others.

Rest easy, Engineer Derek Johnson. Your watch is over, Sir….We will take it from here.

“Are you going to be sending me a bill?”

We get this question occasionally and the answer is always the same: “No.”

The Wooster Fire Department (WFD) does not send bills to people for responding to emergencies. The vast majority of the WFD’s funding comes from the collection of annual fire dues. Each property in our district pays $40 every year for fire protection which is included in their property taxes. The money is then used to purchase items such as fire apparatus, tools, personal protective equipment, medical supplies, fuel, etc.

If you are experiencing an emergency, please don’t ever hesitate to call 911. The WFD will not send you a bill.

We always love getting to interact with the kids on a positive occasion.

We greatly appreciate the members of the Wooster Fire Department who came out yesterday to greet our students on their first day of testing. Their presence brought smiles, encouragement, and a boost of confidence to help our students start strong! 🚒🧑🏻‍🚒

We are so thankful for their involvement in our community and their willingness to support and inspire our students during this important week.

Thank you for your service, dedication, and for always going above and beyond for our community! 👏🏻🔥
