Did you know the Worcester Public Library and the Worcester Talking Book Library have a “Dial-A-Story” program? This recorded service offers stories, poems, and more by phone. The Worcester Poet Laureate and Worcester Youth Poet Laureate recently recorded a special feature for the program. Be sure to call in by dialing 508-552-3456 and listen to their poems! 📞

I learned that former Boston Poet Laureate Danielle Legros Georges has passed after a long struggle with cancer. I have had the distinct pleasure of working with her and performing with her many times over the years. This is a tremendous loss for the poetry community.

I've been buried in work but wanted to share a distraction with you and maybe you'll be able to think about this during your busy day as a way to cope. I know I will.

Here's the prompt I gave my students today:

Write about something that is worrying you while also writing about being in love.

Include the following items:

1. Include the texture from an article of clothing.

2. The setting is in transit.

3. Within the poem should be a body of water with a proper name.

4. Two brand-name fashion items.

5. The first frost.

6. An item you have taken that is not yours but that you still posses.

7. Salt.
