1954-1955 Wrightsville High Marching Band.

Captain Thomas Wiggins Kent. Served in Civil War with Johnson Grey's and Battleground Guards. Was wounded and left for dead at Gettysburg. Captured 3 days later and sent to prison. Was held by the Union at Hilton Head in danger of being fired on by his own men. Wound up at Fort Pulaski as one of the Immortal 600. Was involved in the escape attempt at Fort Pulaski. Came back to Johnson County and was a businessman, one of the incorporators of the Wrightsville & Tennille railroad and the father of John Luther Kent long time lawyer and superior court judge.

It's sad that kids today will never experience the old time yearly family reunions or birthday dinners that my generation and generations before me experienced. I wish I could go back in time and ask questions that nobody now can answer. We lost so much local and family history because we never thought to ask or were too young to think about such things, and sadly today's generation don't care.
