October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it's our chance to come together as a community in support of survivors, patients, caregivers, and families affected by this disease.

Early detection is key, so I urge everyone to schedule a screening this month if you can, and remind your loved ones to do the same. Share reliable resources with those who might need them.

Feel free to share a pink ribbon in the comments to honor someone you’re supporting this month!

International Podcast Day is a reminder that some of the most important conversations in our communities are happening right in our headphones. From local issues to leadership, culture, and public safety, podcasts help keep us informed, connected, and engaged.

I’m grateful for the recent opportunities to join a few great shows for interviews and community conversations:
On Patrol with the Suffolk PBA
Half Hollow Hills Community Library's In The Stacks
Policy & Culture, hosted by Dan Lloyd of Minority Millennials, Inc.
Champion's Circle Podcast hosted by Liga De Justicia Foundation

Now I want to hear from you. What’s your go-to podcast right now? Drop it in the comments or tag a friend who needs a new listen.

The AFA Long Island Alzheimer's Education & Resource Center held their annual Family Fun Day earlier this month, aimed at bolstering local dementia care and support initiatives on Long Island. The event offered complimentary memory screenings, brain games, a scavenger hunt, and opportunities to meet New York sports legends Doc Gooden and Wayne Chrebet. We extend our gratitude to everyone at AFA LI for their dedicated efforts in supporting Suffolk's families and caregivers impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.

Stay informed and stay safe, Suffolk County!

As Nor'easter arrives later this afternoon and continues through the weekend, remember to do the following as soon as possible. Secure outdoor items, avoid flooded roads, and treat downed power lines with care. Ensure your vehicles and generators are fueled, charge your devices, and prepare flashlights. Don't forget to replenish your emergency cash. Let's work together to keep our community safe!

The 15th Legislative District and Suffolk County Fire Rescue & Emergency Services are sharing an important reminder: Child Passenger Safety Week is September 20–26, 2026.

A few small safety steps can make a big difference. We encourage parents and caregivers to review car seat and booster guidelines and reach out for support if you have questions about fit or installation. If you’ve recently changed vehicles or your child has grown, this is a great time to re-check.
